My husband and I enjoy trying new cuisines and supporting local restaurants, so we were excited to try Filipino food for the first time here on a lunch date. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, and the space is small but cute. Prices felt reasonable for the portion sizes, and the variety available was great.
One challenge we experienced as first-time visitors was the lack of a printed or clearly labeled digital menu with descriptions. The employees did their best to explain the buffet items served from behind the counter, but it was still hard to know exactly what we were ordering.
No problem though, we decided to order a variety of dishes to share. While the sauces and Java rice had good flavor, we found that most of the meat was extremely fatty, to the point where there was little actual meat to eat. I understand that fat is often used for flavor in Filipino cuisine, but the texture made it difficult for us to enjoy. One item in particular that looked amazing ended up being almost entirely fat.
I appreciate this restaurant adding to the diversity of food options in Carlisle, and I’m sure those familiar with and who enjoy Filipino food will love it. If you’re new to the cuisine, though, I hope this helps set expectations so you can make an informed decision.

Soon as we walked in the husband (didn’t get his name) explained the entire menu and all of the foods and what was in them/ if they were spicy or not. The food looked great! The egg rolls were fresh and were our favorite part of the meal! It looks bright and clean in the restaurant, we will definitely be back!

This is the new go to in Carlisle. 2 entree platter with sides is 13.99. Plenty of tasty lookin options. Had the BBQ pork and the orange mango chicken. The flavor is amazing. Service was on point. The lady working explained everything in perfect detail and let me try a sample of the Banana turon. Such a nice little establishment. 10/10 would return.

OMG. This place is great. A filipino resturant in Carlisle. Food is really good. Plenty of choices and they even have smash burgers that are cooked perfectly. The staff is super friendly as you would expect from filipino people. We will definitely be back and everyone should come check this place out. The food and atmosphere is worth it. They even have karaoke. They also have a refrigerator for byob to keep your drinks chilled. Garuntee, filipino food will be the next hit food in America.

After reading the reviews… Not impressed. Hostess served overwhelmed and unable to articulate the offerings clearly. Most of the items were empty, leaving limited choices even at 5pm. Tried to order to the best of our “guesses”.. are the bbq skewers supposed to be cold? Unsure..
Now, it is New Year’s Eve, so will cut them some slack and try again in hopes it was a fluke tonight.

The food was excellent and the service friendly. I highly suggest more fixed signage inside and easier online access to a descriptive menu. People like to know exactly what they are eating when trying a new and exciting cuisine. And folks have become accustomed to being able to order online. Best of luck to the owners.

Don’t miss this in Carlisle. Delicious Filipino food. They have multiple levels of combos where you choose what dishes you get. Super friendly and they explain all of the dishes. Definitely get some lumpia, and try both rice and noodles (half and half). I never tried Filipino food before, but I thoroughly enjoyed everything I got. Pleasant seating area. They also have a little selection of Filipino groceries and snacks.

My friend and I ate here for lunch, and the food was super Sarap (delicious)! I had half pancit/white rice, ginataang hipon (shrimp) and bico express, lumpia, and bbq skewers. Everything was hot, tasty, and reminded me of my mom’s cooking! I def recommend trying Kain na Cafe! Check out their Facebook page for their menu and available desserts (:
