My wife and I have lived in GV for a year and a half now. We moved from the bay area where there are as many sushi restaurants as there are liquor stores, they’re everywhere. Here in GV they are few and far between.
We’d been wanting to try Kaido for a while but had not gotten around to it and were somewhat skeptical of a Foothill sushi joint. Until today. We have eaten at roughly 20-30 different sushi restaurants as adults and I say Kaido is probably top 3. Nigiri, sashimi, and their curated rolls are all 10/10.
If you get the opportunity to eat here, I 100% recommend it. You will not be disappointed with the flavor and quality of the food. The wait staff is amazing too. Very customer friendly and knowledgeable. We found our new go to place for sushi.

I now understand why the ratings for Kaido Japanese Restaurant are low. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. Our server, Adina, appeared uncomfortable with my friend’s different nationality, and our order was handled incorrectly, which led to long wait times.

The food presentation was disappointing, the sushi rice was scattered around the edge of the plate, and the cooks were coughing, which raised serious concerns about hygiene. To make matters worse, when it was time to pay, Adina slapped the check down on the table, which felt disrespectful and unprofessional.

Overall, the environment did not feel welcoming or inclusive, and the service lacked basic courtesy. I would not recommend dining here. There are many other sushi restaurants in the area that offer a more professional, hygienic, and respectful experience.

The food was excellent, once we finally received it. We had reservations for 6 o’clock on Saturday evening. A party of five. It took ten minutes before we were served water. Then the waitress disappeared for another fifteen minutes before asking us for our drink orders.
We were there for over two hours, because it took so long for our server to come back. We received our food in small increments, with about ten to fifteen minutes in between each arrival of our server.
The food was great, once we finally had the opportunity to dine.
The restrooms were clean.
The service was friendly, but there was never an explanation as to why it was so slow.
There were four other tables open at the time. One was a single person. Two tables only had two people. The other table had a party of four.

As much as I enjoy going to Kaido and have been there numerous times, the service was superb, but the food, something else. I ordered the rainbow roll, as I normally have, but as the photo depicts, the avocado was old and browning, and additionally, the rice was old and stale, causing the rice’s texture to lose stickiness and made the roll fall apart while in my chopsticks. I have no issue paying $20 for a high-quality sushi roll, but for $20, I expect to receive avocado that isn’t going bad and fresh rice. With this experience, I could’ve gotten a roll half the price from a grocery store that would’ve been fresher. I’m honestly surprised, because I have had great experiences at Kaido in the past, but I was extremely disappointed.

Service was extremely attentive and very friendly. I only tried 2 rolls which were both quite good. The cucumber salad was also very tasty. Pretty reasonably priced for sushi and I would go back when in the area.

Great service, food was very good. Definitely a go back place. I tried the miso soup.. yum, the tempura shrimp and veggies, a Hawaii role and desert.

The table next to us came in after us and had just been seated when the waitress brought their table water and tried to take their orders. They were not ready however were ready because we had been their quite awhile but the waitress walked away without acknowledging us walking back and forth in and out of the kitchen. We finally gave up and left.

Super dry… very expensive for the quality.

I travel a lot and eat sushi everywhere… I paid $150 for two people, and I disliked every dish we had.
4/10 rating.

Eat with caution.
