Our favorite Thai place in the area. Their duck is unbelievable. I also like MASSAMAN with chicken, it’s so good and perfect for cold weather. Another thing I really like is PAD KEE-MOW, highly recommend if you have had too much PAD THAI and want to try something new.

I don’t know what others are talking about. This food (at least what I ordered) was delicious and flavorful. The kai yang chicken had great flavor, was nice and tender, and the red curry sauce only elevated it. And the papaya salad was fresh, refreshing, and pungent with fish sauce and lime. Overall a great meal

We went there before a dance party in Montclair. This place has been on my list for a while so I was glad to try it out. I was able to make reservations through Google Assistant online which made the process much easier. We ordered a bunch of appetizers that our waitress recommended. We got the wings, roti with curry, shrimp with chili sauce, papaya and mango salads to start with. The wings were very flavorful. We got them with penang curry. The shrimp dish was okay but the sauce was yummy. The roti and the curry were delicious. My favorite were the two salads. They were very well spiced and very well balanced. We then ordered the fried whole fish with the basil and tamarind sauce. The extra sauce was an extra $7. The fish was room temperature by the time it arrived but the sauces were hot so I guess we were supposed to pour the sauces on top of the fish. I think the fish should have been hotter. We also ordered the whole chicken that came with its own sauces. Very good! I think I really enjoyed their sauces. We ordered two noodle dishes which could have had more flavor. But overall it was a great experience! I would highly recommend this place. I will definitely come back. The service was very friendly and helpful! Oh and they are BYOB which is always a good thing!

I will say, the service and atmosphere is very nice here. Seems very home-made, however I will have to say the cuisine has to be influenced by something contemporary. The gravy/sauces for the sautéed and curry dishes are too thick, like cornstarch you would use for Chinese cuisine. taste was 7/10 though for the chicken Thai basil and pad garlic. The chicken red curry was too thick, but decent flavor. Also no beef on the menu, not sure why. Overall 7/10 experience, going to try Kor Kai and Charm next in Montclair!

My husband and I were in the area and dropped into Kai Yang randomly for a bite to eat, deciding to take a wild risk by not even checking online reviews beforehand. In short, we had a decent if unspectacular meal.

I was surprised at how small the serving our fried calamari starter was, which might have been a blessing in disguise since some of the pieces were a little tough. We experienced similar disappointment with the pad thai. Granted, I struggle with most pad thais since I find most to be either too sweet or too saucy. I found Kai Yang’s to be both, but I acknowledge this is entirely a matter of personal preference.

In contrast, the massaman curry is a triumph – hot, flavorful, with tender pieces of chicken and potatoes. Paired with rice, we made short work of this entree.

If you’re searching for dining vibes, look no further. Kai Yang is dressed to the nines, and we received incredibly warm service from start to finish.

I visited this restaurant on a Friday afternoon shortly after it opened for the day and I was seated immediately. It was nice to enjoy the restaurant when it was nearly empty before the large crowds (and noise) arrived. The atmosphere was inviting and warm.

The staff was excellent. Everyone was very friendly, attentive, and efficient.

To start, I ordered the Mango Salad. It was fresh, crispy, filling and delicious. For my main, I ordered the Half Kai Yang (chicken) with Massaman Curry. The flavor the curry was delicious and the chicken was tender. The portion of the meal was very large – I had to take most of it home and then I was able to split it into two small meals. Definitely an excellent value for the money.

Overall a very good experience!

I had such a great experience at Kai Yang! We tried the Chicken Rana, Pad Thai, curry puffs, and dumplings, and everything was delicious. The Chicken Rana was the standout — flavorful, tender, and perfectly cooked. The Pad Thai had that perfect balance of sweet, savory, and tangy, and the portion was generous. The curry puffs were crispy and packed with filling, and the dumplings were light but super satisfying. On top of the food, the service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere made it a really enjoyable meal overall. I’ll definitely be back!

Best Thailand cuisine in the town! Great and very authentic flavors, reasonable prices and very easy going service. The only downside on it is dark interior circumstances and no kids menu, not friendly to family with kids, only personal experience. But we will come back again for food!

Honestly so worth coming to this cute spot just for the rotisserie chicken. SO delicious. Meat fell right off the bone and was so well seasoned. Everything else we had was good too but the rotisserie chicken definitely is worth going to get again!
