I decided to visit Kai last night, and I had an absolutely stellar experience. The atmosphere was cozy & inviting, and the staff was incredibly friendly. Our server was quite knowledgeable and even took the time to explain different menu items without rushing us. As for the food, it was outstanding. They offer 3-roll and 5-roll combos that just can’t be beat by any other sushi spot I’ve visited in Raleigh, both in price and taste. The thing that really sets Kai apart from the rest, in my opinion, would be all the attention to detail; Clear pricing, quick refills, free edamame, etc., all adds up to create a truly memorable experience.
I highly recommend visiting Kai when you come into town, you won’t regret it!

Stop by for a quick and local sushi lunch and was happy to stumble upon this spot. The service was fast and courteous. The food was fresh and the value for the meal was awesome. I chose the sushi combo special and it came with a roll soup plus salad for only $16! Will definitely be returning for dinner and to try the hibachi!

Saturday, November 22nd, 2025 was the first time experiencing the restaurant Kai Sushi. I have to say, this was one of the best restaurant experiences that I have ever had. Our waiter Cyrus, went way above and beyond with his attentiveness and service. That experience only enhanced the amazing sushi that this place has to offer. Would recommend without any reservation and will definitely be back. Thank you for an awesome dining experience, we enjoyed every moment.

My best friend and I came here and got the Miso soup and three different rolls. They were all absolutely delicious. We got the Crazy K, Hidden dragon and Screaming O. Our waiter stated he’s only been employed for a month and he was also friendly and helpful. Everything was perfect.

2024-03. Another underwhelming experience. Shrimp tempura appetizer was THICK heavy crust cooked well past golden. The young kid at the host counter spent most of his evening arguing with the servers as to who was supposed to be next up for the next guests, and why the number was off.
Sushi was OK. I don’t like all the crab salad In the rolls instead of actual crabsticks. For the price, the quality was not really up to standard. We really miss Tokyo House.
2023-07 gave it another shot. Sushi good, but I still prefer crab sticks to crab salad. We keep coming back for the free edamame. lol

This is our favourite local sushi joint. We go almost every week and it’s amazing every time. We love their roll combos and their donburis. Definitely recommend the tekka don and fish roe bowl. Complimentary edamame is pretty nice too 🙂

Kai is one of the better options to get sushi in Raleigh. I prefer getting the nigiri here rather than the rolls. (I recommend the eel). A number of the rolls have cream cheese, which I tend to avoid, but the fish taste fresh. Overall, I always get a good meal here but it is pricey and sometimes there’s a long wait to get a table.
