Kahai Kitchen opened in the summer of 2006 as a Catering company before eventually serving plate lunches. Over the years, we’ve earned a loyal following. Our customers are generally people who appreciate local favorites done right, culinary classics, innovative specials, and the variety of our daily fixed menu; and have described us as …gourmet style, restaurant quality food served on a paper plate. Kahai Kitchen is also a Trusted Honolulu Caterer. We’ve done events as small as 10, as large as over 1,000 and everything in between. Our customers have become accustomed to the quality of our food, ease to work with, logistical prowess, value, excellent service, and operational precision. If you’re looking for local style plate lunch that tastes great and affordable, you should come to Kahai kitchen! There’s so many options available especially if you are a meat eater. They also have cheaper and smaller lunch options called university mini plates for students.

Love the food here. Super affordable, really clean. Lots of options that change every day. The softshell crab is amazing! They have a huge list of daily specials that actually change daily, so it’s great for locals that frequent the place. Outdoor dining is always covered and cool, even on the hottest days. They also have indoor dining and restrooms for customers. I would say this place is affordable gourmet at its absolute best. You have to visit, it’s crazy impressive.

Food – I got the catch combo, which was furikake fried fish and misoyaki fish with white rice and potato mac salad. It was sooooo good! One of the best fried fish pieces I’ve ever had, I want to try and make it myself at home. The fish was very fresh tasting!

Aloha; this is one of the top plate lunch places on island. They have unreal Mac salad to start, great steak plates, and salads. They have gourmet style food with flavors that will blow you away. The staff is super helpful and kind. But I recommend you go at 11am before they get busy with phone orders or customers in general. I will be back to try thier hawaiian style pastrami hoogie.

Love their garlic chicken! I accidentally found this place. Saw people standing and waiting and it looked good. So many different menus to choose from so I have to keep going there but difficult to order something else than garlic chicken. We had guava barbecue braised brisket and it was good too. They have picnic tables with a parasol and parking is…er on that weirdly wide pavement. Convenient.(edit: when I got the garlic chicken, I didn’t get much sauce and it was a bit dry. Sob)
