We had cappuccino and carrot cake before exploring Dimmuborgir. This place is right at the trail head. Large glass windows with views of the rocky structures and trails. Nice interiors. It seemed like a lunch stop for buses, so might get crowded for lunch.

Dined here on holiday, very disappointed from customer service perspective. We bought muffins and were told that there were no tables. When we entered the dining area looking for a door to leave plenty of tables were available. We politely asked one of the waitresses if we could sit there. “NO, they are reserved, restaurants run on reservations, no”. I have inserted a photo of said tables after we left, as no one used them the whole of the time we were in the restaurant. Very rude, proven by the other reviews and responses to the reviews.

After a morning of hiking on a cold, rainy August day, the unlimited soup and geyser bread hit the spot. Icelandic restaurants take pride in their soup and Kaffi Borgir’s Iceland meat soup and coconut curry soup did not disappoint. Nice views too. Highly recommended.

There’s free-flow soup on the menu, which includes unlimited servings of 2 different soups that you self-serve from a pot. Bread comes along with it. Other things on the menu include the typical Icelandic fare such as burgers. With each meal, you will get a ticket that allows you entry into the WC nearby. One time entry.

After about 3.5 hrs of hiking all the way from Hverfjall we took a coffee break before we went back to Hverfjall parking. We didn’t lunch here, allthough the soup buffet (all you can eat) looked good.
You order in front and then you are allowed to seating area with great views. You also get a free ticket to use the bathroom; it’s not from Kaffi Borgir although. At time of visit it was reasonably ‘clean’.

We had the Dinner Special of grilled trout with potatoes, salad and geysir bread. Comes with dessert too, Blueberry skyr with whipped cream for ISK3500. Read decent reviews about the place before we decided to come by for dinner.
Family run business with the Father in kitchen and Mother running the shop. Their children are the cooks and waiters. We were there around 5+ and it was too early for their Dinner Special which we felt was a good deal. They managed to get out food out even before the official start. One area was reserved by a large tour group so I guess if you come after them, you will need to wait a bit.
Food was good and we enjoyed our dinner.

Wow, just wow! I was incredibly impressed with this little family-run cafe – the food, the view, and the staff were all wonderful! They have a nightly dinner special that includes an entree and a dessert for 3.500 krona. Tonight it was baked trout, which was served on a bed of oven roasted potatoes and accompanied by a mixed greens salad and traditional Icelandic rye bread. First, I don’t particularly like fish – I never have. But I decided to give it a try and it completely exceeded my expectations. This was the first time in my life I’ve finished a fish entree and I wanted seconds! It was easily the best fish I’ve ever had in my life. They also make their rye bread in-house, in a geysir no less. I’ve been looking for this style of rye bread all over Iceland and this is the first place I’ve been to that does it right. If you’re looking for a place to eat near Lake Myvatn, do yourself a favor and stop by this cafe. It’s amazing!

Great place to stop for lunch 11-16. Soup buffet with superb icelandic rye bread is only 2500kr. The soups are adequate but the bread is the star of the table. They hace appropiate apparel for sale also and the service is as it should, dark and gloomy.
