It’s definitely more of a relaxed, sit-down brunch destination rather than a quick grab-and-go place, but that’s part of its charm. If you’re looking to slow down and enjoy great food in a lovely atmosphere, this is the perfect place. I’ll definitely be back!
This time I ordered the Roasted Corn and Cilantro Toast. They were kind enough to accommodate my request for no cilantro.
I also grabbed a tiramisu donuts to go. The barista was nice and asked if I wanted extra cocoa.
Each time I go the food is lovely, as is the atmosphere and the employees.
Parking is ample, though, and outdoor seating is more widely available than indoor. So, if you see a lot of cars parked, but no one outside, you can assume its crowded.
Service tended to be a tiny bit slow, but patience is a good thing to practice for me! I really enjoyed both the gluten-free sandwich and the coffee. The sandwich was a healthy portion, and well worth the tiny wait and price. It was a maple salt sausage, egg, and cheese, and the taste blend was immaculate.
I’ll be back for another Aquidneck Island breakfast!
Amara was so nice to us. She’s the best
Tucked away in what was obviously once a domestic house and carefully transformed into a welcoming café, Kaffeology in Portsmouth feels like a well-kept secret. Although you can still feel the bones of the house, the conversion is tactful and sensitive, and the flow is surprisingly good for a coffee shop. It’s the type of location where you naturally speak more quietly – not because you have to, but rather because the ambiance encourages serenity.
The almond croissant went well with a well-pulled espresso and was fragrant and crunchy without being too sugary. The fact that Mrs. K. gave her latte the thumbs up is no small accomplishment. The sitting, both indoors and out, was varied enough to accommodate a short visit or a long morning, and the service was friendly yet unobtrusive. With just enough individuality in the décor to be well-curated without being fussy, the area exudes a subtle charm.
Kaffeology is worth the trip if you’re traveling through Aquidneck Island and need a restorative, rather than hurried, break. It aims to be terrific rather than trendy, and that’s just what makes it memorable.
