Terrible service very rude and doesn’t take anything but cash but says it anywhere and food isn’t even that good for all of that

Cons: Sweet plantains wasn’t sweet, oxtail was over cooked, rice and peas was bland.

There’s better options in Stamford for Jamaican food.

Owner has nasty attitude!!! Always walking around like if people owe her something which us people are the ones supporting her business.. will never go there again!! You have to pay cash, raised prices and the oxtails are more than $20. With that money I will enjoy real food at Prime!!

I should have read the reviews before coming here. The first time I came was with someone they knew so their attitude wasn’t bad. This time around I couldn’t believe how horrendous their attitude was, you would think I was stabbing them the way they treated me. I asked the man if they had soup and he pointed down to something dark brown but didn’t say what kind of soup it was. Then I asked how much was the fish and I thought he said $8.59 which sounded like a really good deal. When I ordered the food I asked for plantains but he must of not heard me because he was getting ready to close the container, so when I asked again he gave me an annoyed look like he wanted to say no. Both the man serving me and the woman who rang me up faces were screwed up. She told me the price and then I mistakenly went to give her my ID instead of my credit card and she sucked her teeth and turned her back on me looking for something. The fish was actually $27!!! That is hella overpriced

The woman behind the counter was unbelievably kind and patient. She was helpful to my wife and myself when she was admitted from the hospital and was feeling scared and acting erratically. Unlike what most people in store that size would’ve done she was patient and offered assistance by letting us use the phone to call for a ride and wait inside as a stalker looking for trouble was pacing out front, trailing us. I know that’s a whole lot of drama in one sentence, but the point is this woman showed kindness that I don’t see very often these days and her food was absolutely incredible. I think her location being right next to the hospitalmakes her hard to miss but her food makes you happy you did not miss this spot. Top 10 places to eat, and Stamford for sure in its category being bodegas highly recommended.

I have gone here twice but likely not again. My first trip there was okay and went fairly smoothly- I added a tip the first time and not the 2nd (money’s a tad tight on my 2nd trip, both were for lunch during work). If you don’t tip, need a correction to what’s being done (order being done wrong and you need to correct in the moment), need anything not that’s not straightforward on the first try? you will be treated like an annoyance and a hinderance- I have never experienced that level of disdain for a customer before- I have been to many a roti shop and other Jamaican spots, this was the worst treatment I’ve seen.

The food was good in flavor and texture but for the ratio of bones to meat, you’ll mainly get bones.

I’ve only had the oxtail. The food was decent. Better than expected. As with most West Indian restaurants… it comes with attitude. They can be rude for no actual reason, especially the older lady. God forbid you ask for extra gravy or a actual shopping bag. We nuh have dat!!!

So it’s been about 7 months since my original review. In that time there has been a substantial price increase. But some how the recipe has changed. The food that’s served early in the afternoon is completely different from the food that’s served in the evening. Not sure if it’s a different chef… but there are some clear inconsistencies happening. Depending on the day and or time of day… the food taste different.

My first visit and also my last. When I first walked in and was attempting to place my order, the two women who were the owners possibly, held a conversation in front of me which I’m sure could have been AFTER I left. The elder woman, held a lot of attitude when serving my food. I was still polite enough to say thank you and she snapped at me to come back for my receipt. I’m had great Jamaican cuisine before, and this just was not it. Poor customer service, the patty tasted like it needed more seasoning, and lastly the fried chicken didn’t have any flavor. The food overall was bland & the way in which they took care of me was not pleasant.

This is the most rude place I have ever been to. Honestly I don’t even know why their attitude is so disgusting. Like don’t own a place of business if you want no one to come in to your place. Honestly the food is a hit or miss. On a good day the food is amazing. On a bad day it awful. 50% of the time it’s good. I mean maybe you’ll go on a good day. Try at your own risk. Also they are very small on the portions. You really don’t get your money’s worth.

Really bad attitude on the elder lady. I politely asked her for what I wanted and she proceeds with ” you can’t add chicken wings on your fish order” I was baffled. I wanted to create my own plate and she snaps for that. No positivity from there whatsoever. If you as a customer asks for what you require, the basics is to accommodate you in the best way possible. She shouldn’t be running the establishment if there is no genuine passion.
