Just Italy in Mentone is clearly a local favourite .. the place has a good feel. The service is warm and genuinely friendly, which makes the experience even better. The food is delicious, with comforting Italian flavours done well. The cannoli was a standout … a lovely, sweet treat with coffee to finish the meal.

First time here so we arrived without a booking for desserts and drinks, now we can’t wait to return to try out for dinner. Staff are excellent and it’s such a beautiful atmosphere that really feels like you’re in Italy. Romantic and cozy restaurant where you don’t need to be overdressed either. Seating is slightly close to others, however even as it was busy you can still hear each other speak.

We were 6 adults (one who is Italian) and 2 children for a mid-week evening meal and we all love Italian food. I had the veal scallopini with mushrooms which was out of this world. Between us we had calamari, lamb sorrento, papparadelle and a few other dishes I can’t remember but the comments were that they were excellent. The desserts were apparently heavenly. The only downside was the very slow service (the gelato came out 15 minutes after ordering) but if you can tolerate this then you must try this place. The food is well worth waiting for.

Booked lunch through First Table. The food and service were excellent. We shared the fried olives, then had the pork sausage gnocchi and seafood pasta for mains. The seafood pasta contained a generous portion of prawns, mussels, calamari plus half a Moreton bay a bug. Rounded off lunch with the tiramisu and lemon tart. Couldn’t fault anything. We will definitely return.

Very nice cafe/restaurant in Mentone, always very friendly service and always very welcomed. This was a custom order which was very delicious, the coffee and chai is nice here as well. I’m looking forward to having dinner here at some point! They have indoor and outdoor seating. I have noticed sometimes it is quiet (in the day) and very busy during the dinner so perhaps make a booking just incase. I recommend it!

An excellent Italian restaurant with brilliant food.
The table was available as a walk in without a reservation and the waitresses were very quick and professional with table service.
I had the Sorento Lamb which was delicious and my Thai wife totally enjoyed her spagetti bolognese.
We will returning for another enjoyable evening.

I have been to the mentone J.I. for a while because i used to like the oakleigh one better. But I decided for my wife’s birthday to go check out the mentone one and we all were blown away by the food and service. The food was delicious and the servers were super friendly.

The pizza is good but that’s where it ends. The veal scallopini was smothered and dominated by mushrooms with a dry mash and rubbish wilted spinach (do not order!). Was charged an extra $3 for kids tomato sauce because they don’t provide enough to start with – and this is a kids meal! The service was generally good though and it’s a nice atmosphere are the only other positives.
