Just Friends Café in Jersey City is an absolute gem. The bread alone could’ve been the whole meal soft, buttery, and paired with herb butter that set the tone perfectly. The Just 2 Meatballs, made with beef, pork, and veal, were incredibly juicy and seasoned to perfection. The jumbo potato gnocchi with shrimp and mushrooms in a spicy Italian sauce was a true standout and instantly became a favorite. The crispy chicken sandwich with parmesan truffle fries was indulgent in the best way, and the lobster ravioli was fresh and cooked flawlessly. I also love that it’s BYOB, which makes the experience even better. On top of the amazing food, the Rat Pack–themed atmosphere and dog-friendly outside porch make this spot unique and worth revisiting.

Can’t believe it took us a year to come in!!! Just friends was excellent. The prices are great, it’s BYOB and the food is fantastic! We both got the chicken parm and both the chicken and pasta were so fresh and delicious. Definitely will be back in and can’t wait to try more food. Staff were great.

I’m already looking forward to returning to this gem. The Chicken Parm (served over freshly-made chimaera spaghetti) and the Arugula Beet Salad were amazing. The bread–popovers!–was already delicious, but the herb butter sent it over the top. The fried calamari was excellent, and the shrimp scampi appetizer was out of this world. Do yourself a favor, and check out this place!

My daughter suggested this place when I visited her in Jersey City. I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious egg plant dinner I ordered. The spaghetti it was on was delicious and perfectly al dente. When I asked, I was told the spaghetti was freshly made. The eggplant and the marinara sauce was also delicious. The waitress we had was super friendly and attentive to our table. I’d definitely go eat here again when I visit my daughter!

Just Friends Cafe is an absolute standout. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal.

The waitress was amazing — incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive without being overbearing. She made the experience even better and truly deserves recognition.

And the chicken parm… wow. It was to die for — perfectly cooked, crispy, cheesy, and packed with flavor. Easily one of the best I’ve had. You can tell the food is made with care and quality ingredients.

This place delivers great food, excellent service, and a comfortable vibe. Highly recommend Just Friends Cafe — I’ll absolutely be back when in NJ! ️

A snug restaurant that makes you feel right at home. The lady was very sweet and swift with the service 😀

The spicy bucatini was decadent—a perfect blend of spicy and creamy. And the crispy bread & flavorful herb butter was delish. Everything was freshly-made with great portions! I pretty much cleared the plate even though I was so full

Shall definitely be back for seconds

Saw Just Friends Cafe on Google Maps and noticed it didn’t have many reviews yet, but decided to give it a try—and I’m so glad I did. What a great little spot! The food was amazing—freshly baked bread, delicious shrimp scampi, and we also had the rigatoni with grilled chicken and seasonal veggies, which were cooked perfectly. The service was super warm and friendly too. Definitely coming back again. This place deserves way more love!

The bread was fresh and so good! The pasta sauce was incredible too. We got one vodka sauce over cheese ravioli, and one spicy sauce over rigatoni. Both were fantastic. Maybe we don’t go out enough, because it sounds over-the-top to say this, but it tasted just like when we were in Italy last year – the richness of the sauce especially, and perfect portion sizes too. We were super happy, and we’ll be back again. I don’t know what their secret is. Maybe they have an Italian grandma hidden away in the kitchen.

Cute neighborhood spot that seems to get overlooked despite delivering exactly what locals say they want: nice decor, cozy ambiance and home cooking.

We started with some complimentary biscuits and housemade herb butter that were delectable. The Shrimp Scampi was a richly delicious winner of prawn and garlicky goodness. The Spicy Italian Bucatini was proper spicy and al dante, while the Cacio e Pepe with its chitarra spaghetti should please any white sauce lover.

I hope they make it.
