We came here for Christmas dinner on the recommendation of a coworker. We were staying in Vail and decided to leave the village in hopes of, if not saving money, finding food that was a better value for the expense. Unfortunately, we didn’t find it at Juniper.

We walked in and there was no “Merry Christmas” or “happy holidays” or really any welcome whatsoever. We were then led to a high top that was next to a temporary wall, so it was a bit cold. I will never understand why restaurants that charge $45-$75 for an entre will sit people at a high top – this is Uncomfortable. Women in heels do not want to try to find a place for their feet. Also, there was no reason for it – it wasn’t saving space. It could have just been a regular table.

The service was lacking. The menu doesn’t have a lot of descriptions, including important information about size of beef portions, but the server didn’t provide this information until asked. Even the $100 wagyu special made NO mention of the fact that it was 5oz and only one raviolo (though the menu said ‘ravioli’) – we didn’t order this anyway. At a minimum, we expect that servers will explain the menu, make suggestions, etc., but it was hard enough to get someone’s attention here. We eventually got to talking to our server and he was lovely, but our initial impression of the service didn’t really change.

We ordered the duck confit pizza ($30), pork chop entre ($50), brussels sprout salad ($20), side order of crab cakes ($25), and side order of potato croquettes ($16).

The duck pizza was decent but for $30, the crust was rather flavorless – if the crust was a chewy, charred sourdough, this would have been perfect. At least the duck was good. It was a sizeable portion, so if you’re only 2 people and you order this, I would not order another app.

The pork chop was a properly sized entree with tasty sides. It was cooked well and the only complaint we had was that the bacon really took away from the flavor. The menu did say bacon, so it wasn’t a surprise, but it was unnecessary to the plate.

The brussels sprout salad for $20 a bit of a disappointment. It was small and overly vinegary. There were 5 small cubes of butternut squash that could have just been boiled. It’s a salad, so I’m not expecting fireworks, but like, do something different?

The crabcakes were – as the server pointed out – very small. They tasted great and came with a small frisee salad, and the preparation was good but wow, so small. Not worth $25.

The potato croquettes were the biggest disappointment. They were four TINY pomme dauphines that barely had potato in them – if you pressed on them, they entirely compressed. Do not order this.

And then, we get the bill, and the Bombay martini I ordered was $24.50. The same martini in Vail Village cost me $20 the night before (and the same martini at a comparable place in Denver would have been $18). The other cocktails were $18, so I really can’t imagine why this drink would be 30%+ more.

Total was $216+tip. Overall, I can’t recommend this place. Just go to Vail and have dinner – at least then, you won’t be annoyed at the cost.

Forgive me for forgetting the names of all these dishes for they were ALL AMAZING and I would eat them again. During my trip to Colorado, I can safely say this was the best restaurant we went to.

Made a reservation for the restaurant was completely packed. While busy, it never felt too loud with each table a comfortable distance apart from one another. As mentioned: food-wise the options were all delicious and beautifully plated. A staple I would recommend would be the soup!

Incredible meal. We come to Beaver Creek every couple of years and have never been to this spot. We will absolutely be back!
They were able to accommodate gluten allergies on almost all dishes by switching up components of the dish. Would absolutely recommend.

A MUST when in the Vail area- ditch the Vail Village scene and go to Juniper- GREAT food, generous portions and the flavor and variety of food should not be missed. Make reservations and plan to sit and enjoy the experience! The bacon wrapped pork chop is stellar; the chicken is packed with flavor!

delicious food and great service, perfect for a nice meal with loved ones to wrap up a long day on the slopes :). everything we tried was great! took our server’s recommendation for appetizers and grabbed the spanish octopus and scallops—both were cooked perfectly and had very well balanced flavors. for mains, you have to get the veal. out of the 6 in our group, we ALL ordered it and loved it. my only ask would be for a little bit more pasta, but only because it was so delicious and the veal pieces they give are MASSIVE!! finally, none of the desserts disappointed. we especially loved the sticky toffee pudding and the one apple dessert on the menu (can’t remember the name but it was warm and full of spices and just so, so delicious). what a great meal!

To me, Juniper is one of the best restaurants in the Avon/Edwards area. Food and services is top notch. We ordered the tuna poke, caesar salad, pork chop, halibut and carrot cake. Caesar salad is one of the best I have tasted. Pork chop was also cooked to perfection! However, the two orders of halibut were both cooked quite dry. My friends who live in the area mentioned that it’s not the first time. With that information, I cannot give them a 5 star rating. I will still go back to Juniper in the future, but I would avoid the dry halibut.

Decided to spend a quiet evening in Edwards to enjoy a nice dinner, and Juniper fit the agenda nicely. The atmosphere was bubbly, the service top notch, the fare and drinks excellent. From their summer menu I had the seafood fettuccine, which was a special dish recommended by the waitress. Homemade fettuccine in white sauce; with clams, mussels, shrimp, and scallops. The pork chop dish was also excellent. The Four Roses Manhattan instantly became my favorite so far as Manhattans go. Tip: The Royal Tokaju desert wine from Hungary is a must, and can be paired with any desert. If a restaurant has it, it is the stamp of a great place. Juniper is a must dine spot when staying in Vail.

This was my third time at Juniper. Very disappointing. Cocktails were great. Service mediocre. We split a caesar salad to start. It was a joke. 3-4 small pieces of lettuce with barely any dressing. We waited 40 minutes for our food. My short rib was so dry it was inedible. My friend’s halibut was over salted – she couldn’t eat it. Waitress asked if we wanted to go boxes and we honestly told her our food was bad. No comment from her. We were celebrating a birthday and asked specifically for them to cancel any dessert and to please bring our check. They brought one anyway and it was a pathetic little ball of vanilla ice cream. Won’t go back to Juniper.

Made a reservation for 4 here while our family was visiting from out of town. Our family member got sick and we had to cancel the day of and called to let them know (they don’t open until 5:30pm so we called as soon as they opened – when we tried to cancel online earlier it said to call). They then charged us $200 for canceling within 24 hours. When I called and emailed to discuss this, the owner said the policy is what it is and “anything else is meaningless conjecture” as if we live in a robot world where no exceptions can be made to policies for medical circumstances. Save your money and find a restaurant that treats its customers like actual humans. I suggest Pho 20 in Avon. 🙂
