This restaurant/cafe has so much potential, but here is my initial (constructive criticism) review.
The person, who I assume was the chef, was the busiest person in the joint. Not only was he in the back cooking each meal, but he also easily brought out half the meals to customers’ tables… including pickups. Other than a couple of nit-picking items, his food (and seasoning) was on point!! If you know me, I’m not a fan of thick cut french-fries, but I basically ate each one. The wings, the shrimp and grits, the biscuits, the (sweet) cornbread…seasoned and on POINT!! The rice was good too, but it needed a little bit of additional ingredients of color (IMHO). I can see this place going viral…I could see someone like Anthony Bourdain coming here for a soul-touching meal. From a distance, the cheesesteaks looked meaty, cheesy, and big…and seemed like a fan favorite.
I’ll let the pictures tell most of the story about the negatives, but the front of the restaurant was empty with no sign telling you to walk to the back. Once you got to the back, there was no sign to tell you to wait for a hostess/waiter/waitress or to take a seat. We stood there for a good bit, before just taking a seat, while the two waitresses shuffled back and forth between customer tables and the kitchen…and the place was about 20% full. We came close to doing what someone else did and walked across the street to the Thai restaurant, which is absolutely awesome. The decor and the tables/chairs layout weren’t the best. They have a very lengthy bar, but no alcohol. I didn’t see a sign (as usual), but I assume and hope they’re applying for a liquor license…it’s wasted space and revenue if they don’t apply for one.
I’ll wait to return and let them work out the customer service kinks, but I’m going to tell you right now…if your taste buds do not like seasoning…do not go!!!
FYI: Will someone please tell them that their Diet Coke has been flat since they opened!

Ohhhhh my!!! The $10 Tuesday is a must!! This mushroom and cheese sandwich was absolutely incredible — easily comparable to a great steak and cheese. The mushrooms were perfectly seasoned and packed with rich, savory flavor that made every bite satisfying. What really stood out was the beautifully blended cheese, melted to perfection and woven into the sandwich so smoothly that it paired flawlessly with the fresh, toasted bread. The balance of textures and flavors created a comforting yet elevated experience. A must-try for anyone who loves a hearty, flavorful vegan sandwich option.

Absolutely the BEST CHEESESTEAK I’ve EVER had. Even the fries are amazing. I can’t say enough about it. SOOOOOO good. The owner and staff are super friendly. If you have tried this place do yourself a favor and go! This place ruined me for cheesesteaks now. I can’t go anywhere else again.

Alright so normally I do reviews on Yelp but I saw the Google presence here and thought I’d drop one here.

The good: Walking in, it gave new restaurant that is just starting out vibe, I see the vision though, and I think it’s gonna be killer once it’s up and running at full steam. We got sat by Ashley who was absolutely amazing, and she let us know what options there were, and even made sure our 6 week old was going to be comfortable. We got our food, which was a buy one get one 50% cheesesteak special, and it was GLORIOUS. I’ve had cheesesteaks in Philly, tried for ages to find that closer to home and nothing was even close. This though? I won’t need to go to Philly again, cause Juniper Cafe has the best cheesesteaks I’ve had. Their fries are a perfect crunch and flavor, it is absolutely to die for.

The bad: It can be a little pricey, but, you’re paying for solid quality, and you see the owner running around making sure everything is up to par. So yeah, it’s a bit more expensive than a much lesser cheesesteak, but with 10/10 quality, that’s fine

The ugly: I can’t eat this every day. That’s the only bad part about it. I wish I could, but I think my doctors would hate me.

Juniper Café was terrific. I went in with my husband and we were quickly greeted by a gentleman who took our drink order. He and the waitress made sure we were not waiting or wanting for anything.

They were out of cheesesteaks (which I keep hearing are amazing), but no regrets here. Husband had the smash burger and loved it. I went with the fried fish sandwich. The bread the fish sandwich was served on was delish and the fish seasoned and fried to perfection.

We ended the meal with one of their homemade cookies, amaze.

Not only was the food good, but everything was super reasonably priced.

Only note, the fries were regular – not bad but were to the same level as sandwiches, in my opinion.

We left already planning our next visit—the oxtail grilled cheese is calling my name.

Safe to say: we’ll definitely be back.

Gtfoh with those wings tho! I nearly cried. And Philly fries and ox tail sandwich!

Also, I answered my phone super aggressive when Juniper called to tell me some of my order was 86 (can never tell anymore when ppl call). He took it in stride! My man.

This food is AMAZING. LIKE….what are you waiting for?

Here’s what we ordered:
1) smashburger
2) oxtail grilled cheese
3) buffalo wings
4) Philly fries
5) sweet potato cheesecake

All fantabulous. All worth it. Get in there!

I don’t throw cheesesteak praise around like loose change. I’ve put in real work across Philly. Corners, classics, tourist spots, hole-in-the-wall legends. I study cheesesteaks the way sommeliers study wine.Juniper Cafe just stepped into that conversation. This wasn’t just a sandwich. This was structural engineering. The meat to cheese ratio was dialed in like a soundboard at a championship concert. Every bite had balance. No dry pockets. No cheese overload trying to cover weak steak. Just harmony. The bread deserves its own paragraph. Soft on the inside, but it held the line. Didn’t collapse. Didn’t turn soggy halfway through. It carried the weight like a veteran O-lineman protecting the quarterback. Flavor? Rich, savory, locked in. You could taste intention, not just ingredients. Only critique and this is expert level nitpicking it could’ve used a small spark of acid to cut through the richness. A little hot pepper action or even some tomato would’ve made the flavors snap into even sharper focus. But make no mistake… this is upper-tier. Respect earned. And Hagerstown? You’ve got a jewel. Customer for life.

Not sure where to begin. My wife sent me a TikTok of the juniper Café so we decide to come in this place is absolutely amazing. We tried the Tri and true steak and cheese. It was fresh full of meat. The bread was awesome largest portions that we got the shrimp and grits to double down and they were on point Large shrimp. The sauce for the grits was amazing. This place is a true hidden gym. Highly recommended.
