Disney’s Magic Kingdom BEST DINING Jungle Skipper Canteen …
Reviews
The food was outstanding across the board. We enjoyed the Tiradito de Tuna, which was fresh and vibrant, the Falls Family Falafel with perfectly balanced seasoning, and the Dr. Falls Signature Grilled Steak, cooked just right and packed with flavor. The Curried Vegetable Crew Stew was rich and comforting, while Nile Nellie’s Noodle Bowl was light, savory, and delicious.
The drinks complemented the meal perfectly. We ordered a bottle of Graham Beck Brut Rosé from South Africa, which paired beautifully with the dishes, and the Coconut-Mango Cocktail was refreshing and tropical—an excellent choice.
Between the unique menu, exceptional food, and outstanding service from Skipper Megan, Skipper Canteen became one of our favorite dining experiences in the park. We highly recommend it and can’t wait to return!
I also sampled what my family ordered, and everything impressed. The duck was cooked beautifully, with the skin crisped just right, and the fried rice that came with it was outstanding. The breaded chicken was also very good—crispy, flavorful, and paired nicely with the white rice and salad mix on the side.
I tried the Jungle Bird cocktail as well, which was just average. It had a bit too much ice and leaned more bitter than sweet for my taste.
Overall, the food quality here really stands out and was easily one of the best meals we had in Magic Kingdom. I’d absolutely recommend Skipper Canteen if you’re looking for a memorable sit-down dining experience in the park.
Definitely would come back!
Oh kids meal looked so great and it comes with a drink and dessert. Yum!
My most recent visit was over Mother’s Day weekend, and the meal absolutely blew me away. I started with the soup of the day: a Green Curry & Pea Soup with Shrimp that was so good I was tempted to lick the bowl clean. The Brazilian Cheese Bread was warm, cheesy perfection—an ideal appetizer to share (or not!).
For entrees, I tried the Fish of the Day, which came beautifully cooked and paired with a Berbere-spiced Black-eyed Pea Stew and a flavorful Kenyan Tomato-Onion Relish. The combination of spices and textures was unforgettable. I also sampled the Mess Hall Duck Fried Rice—rich, satisfying, and bursting with flavor.
I’ve seen some surprisingly low reviews, and honestly, I don’t get it. Sure, the menu may not cater to everyone’s usual park fare cravings, but that’s exactly what makes Skipper Canteen special. It’s bold, globally inspired, and refreshingly different. If you’re open to adventurous flavors, this place delivers in spades. Personally, I’d rate it closer to 4.7 stars than the 4.2 it currently holds.
Highly recommend for anyone ready to step out of the theme park food comfort zone and into something truly delicious.
