After our North Pole Flyer ride, we stopped at Junction Cafe in Bertram, TX for lunch, and I’m really glad we did.
We ordered the fried onion rings and fried mushrooms to start. The onion rings honestly tasted like they were made from scratch — super light, crispy breading with sweet onion inside, not greasy at all. The fried mushrooms were hot, crunchy, and full of flavor.
I ordered the chicken fried steak because the menu said it was “world famous,” and now I get it. This wasn’t the usual ground beef patty. It tasted like an actual steak, breaded and fried just right, then covered in their white gravy. It was comforting, flavorful, and just really well done.
My family had the Philly cheesesteak, and it disappeared fast. Lots of steak, plenty of melted cheese, and clearly no skimping. The turkey club was huge and very filling — definitely generous portions across the board.
One thing that really stood out was how generous they are with their food. You’re not leaving hungry. We also had a chance to talk with the wait staff, and they were friendly and welcoming, which always makes the experience better.
Good food, good service, and a great local spot. We’ll be back for sure.

Our experience at Junction Cafe was good. The portions were quite large. If you are in the area, give them a try! We liked the chicken fried steak and onions rings. The chicken liver was good. The service was attentive and friendly.

We ate lunch here today and it was absolutely worth the drive from Leander! So glad we decided to try something new.
I had the small Chicken Fried Chicken (enough for two meals) with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and a side salad to start. Water was my drink of choice.
My husband had the Chicken Fried Steak with fries and corn, along with an iced sweet tea and let me tell you, it’s hard to find good sweet tea these days but they nailed it! He was thrilled with both his meal and his drink. Everything was delicious, comforting, and perfectly cooked.
We saved and then shared some homemade banana pudding later in the evening to celebrate the Longhorns’ win It was exactly what we needed!
We’ll definitely be returning soon and bringing the whole crew with us. I also really enjoyed the friendly conversation with the owner. Great food and great people! ❤️
Thank you to everyone at The Junction Café for a wonderful experience!

We stayed at an Airbnb close by and decided to stop by here for dinner. We ordered onion rings for appetizers and easily one of the best onion rings we’ve ever had! The breading was well spiced, and the onions themselves were tender and sweet. I had the fried catfish which was pretty good and not dry at all. My partner ordered a small order of chicken fried steak which was huge! The gravy was flavorful and the steak itself was delicious! We shared a pecan pie for dessert and absolutely no complaints! Overall a great dinner for a decent price and we definitely would stop by again if we are on the area.

I got the special today. A chicken fried steak sandwich and they have okra and a drink for 14.99. I got sweet tea and asked for mashed potatoes and gravy instead. The server was a youbg girl and so nice. The sandwich was so huge it was almost comical, but that didn’t stop me from finishing it.

A NICE PLACE TO STOP AND HAVE A BITE. We had their chicken fried pork tenderloin lunch special. It was fantastic, it was served with mashed potatoes and we got a side of grilled veggies. These were elevated from the standard mix vegetables with the inclusion of mushrooms. The pork was hand breaded and tender. The lunch special included a drink and set us back for less than $11.00 each. Well worth the money. We will be putting this place on our rotation list.

Small with great, home-cooked meals from scratch. The burger I had was the best I’ve had in over a year; NOTHING like fast food burgers! Fries and onion rings from fresh potatoes and onions tasted incredible!
