If you like salty food, don’t bother coming here — but that’s exactly why I liked it!
I truly appreciated the flavors, especially the pork or shrimp fried rice. While it might seem bland at first, once you add a bit of soy sauce, it hits the perfect balance without being overpowering. The chicken wings were fried to perfection — crispy, not overly battered, and full of flavor. If you enjoy food that lets you adjust the salt to your liking, this spot is definitely worth checking out!

Iconic American Chinese food spot in Kempsville. Been here since the Lincoln administration. Years and years ago, saw kids in the kitchen. Now they’re not kids anymore. Great food, great prices, no better Chinese takeout for at least fifteen miles. The lunch specials come loaded with pork fried rice. I tend to have the pork egg foo young, but all the items are terrific. Closed on Mondays and that’s the only negative aspect about this place, is that they close.
You cannot go wrong with this fabulous neighborhood spot.

Stopped by to get some food. Got Beef and broccoli special with fries rice and egg roll. Plus I got some egg drop soup. Food was really solid and it was fast. Might try some other dish next time.

Jumbo is our favorite, no ONLY, Chinese restaurant! We have been enjoying this delicious carryout food for more than 20 years. There is a great menu selection to try and our special favorites are consistently great, always the same. This family business prepares our meals, just as if we were their family. Good food, great tastes, reasonable prices – like comfort food you can count on.
Jumbo recently reopened after the Covid-19 shutdown and has updated their service counter to keep everyone safe as you will see in the photos here. Our family LOVES Jumbo!

Ordered takeout for the first time tonight. I had high hopes based on other reviews. Ordered General Tso Chicken and Pork Fried Rice. Absolutely the best of both that I’ve had in years! The chicken was tender (not over-fried) and plenty of sauce. The fried rice had lots of veggies and pork. I will certainly be back!

Just moved to town and hate having to start over with the best places to eat. Let me tell you, Jumbo Chinese Restaurant truly earned five stars. One of the best Happy Family meals I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend you give them a try.
