We used to go to the Judoku over on Piedmont Ave and we were so happy to dine with them again last night in Rockridge. It’s such a cute family owned restaurant and I swear it’s the best sushi in Oakland. The service is always wonderful and the food is fresh and delicious. You truly can’t go wrong with anything on the menu- I think we’ve tried one of everything at this point. We’ll definitely be dining in again soon!

We came here for lunch. We got chicken karaage, combination tempura and zombie sushi roll for two people.
The karaage is heavily covered in frying dough, which is not exactly the style that I like, but still pretty good.
The tempura is a bit oily but still good.
Zombie sushi is good!

Absolutely delicious! A must tr! We accidentally stumbled upon this place because another Japanese restaurant was closed for the holiday. The food is incredible! I didn’t have any sushi, but my partner said it was phenomenal. The gyoza (can get either pork or vegetable), was delicious and served fresh/hot. The ramen was very flavorful and wasn’t stuffed with too many sides like some places tend to do. The pork was also slightly fry to add a nice flavor and crunch to it. Egg was cooked perfectly as well. The place is a bit small, so be prepared to wait, but the staff is extremely courteous and very attentive. This is a must go to Japanese spot!

Good food but very slow service. Timing of dishes was also poor, one member of the party didn’t get his meal until the rest of the table was already done with their food.

Sushi was decent but the karaage had some weird soft batter.

Judoku Sushi has recently moved to a few blocks up with outdoor seatings. It was my first time dining there. Ika Maruyaki(grilled squid) and Kakiage Tempura were good for sharing appetizers. Tonkatsu was crispy, not greasy. Lion King baked roll with real crab meat was also very good. I ordered a side salad but it wasn’t necessary because most of their menu items come with a little cabbage salad on the plate. Korean style Chirashi was tasty but a bit overpriced. Servers were pleasant. ( Photo shown is Lunch Tempura Udon)

Absolutely a step above. There’s fun Sushi, cheap Sushi, and experimental Sushi, but Juduko is AWESOME Sushi. The freshest Sushi I’ve had in a while, Brilliantly Prepared by a real Tokyo Sushi Expert, and beautifully prepared, in a cozy, warm atmosphere. I cannot recommend this place highly enough for great, fresh sushi.
Seen in Photos: Their sushi Sashimi combo plate, and delicious miso soup.

I stopped by for a late lunch, and I was not disappointed. Fresh ingredients were the star of the day!

Another reviewer put it best, “premium prices for non-premium food”. That is definitely accurate. Rolls were alright but nothing special and super expensive. Chicken and salmon teriyaki were dry. Outdoor heaters were there but out of order. Top that off with service that was somewhat awkward and you end up with a place I probably won’t be returning to anytime soon 🙂
