Back in 2004, Kash along with some classmates had decided to plan a restaurant for their senior-level marketing class at UAB. The project took the full course of the semester and after several grueling months of research they came up with an idea to start a seafood restaurant with a beach feel.

First time visiting Joe’s Jubilee while in town and I had a great experience. The stuffed grouper was the highlight, it came out piping hot and the flavors were blended really well. Definitely fresh and well-seasoned.
The crawfish étouffée was good, just not my favorite dish on the table.
The Cher mocktail was my favorite drink and the virgin margarita was cool.
Service from the owner was superb, and the staff was hospitable and welcoming. Overall, the ambiance was nice and I enjoyed my visit.
10/10 would recommend and I’d definitely come back next time I’m in town.
My shrimp platter was so overcooked that the shrimp were stuck to the skewer. I had to cut them off with a knife, and the skewer itself was broken on my plate. That’s a serious safety concern — I couldn’t imagine if that had gone in my mouth or gotten stuck in my throat. Photos attached for proof. Also, $18 for 8 shrimp is absolutely ridiculous, especially when the server made it sound like much more.
My husband ordered a 1-lb shrimp boil and received only 11 shrimp. He also ordered potatoes and corn, which never came, even though we were charged for them. The boil was completely cold, had no butter, no sauce, and the dry seasoning was barely shaken on half the plate.
By the time my cheesecake drink arrived, it was already separated and clearly had been sitting for a while. A busboy cleared our table before our waiter ever came back. The server never checked on us or even bothered to see if our food was correct before giving it to us let alone even warm and our table was cleaned by a buss boy before we even saw the waiter again of received the check.
This place is an absolute joke. Save your money and go somewhere else. We will never return and make sure to recommend some where else to others. We spent well over $100 for very little, over cooked, incorrect, cold food.
The only good part of this entire experience was the hostess — she was very kind and professional.
Whoever is making this food has the best Etoufee recipe I’ve ever had. Don’t tell my family. And I hate to break it to all the expensive “original” restaurants by the water that I’ve been to… but this one is top tier for me. I will order this every single time from now on. Please do not change it. I would really love the recipe!
This time the oysters were still very good, but a little over done. & The beignets were delicious and soft.
1st trip, September 3rd 2025:
I had the best Rockefeller oysters I’ve ever had here.
I mean better than I’ve had at the ocean a bazillion times.
We came in a bout 30 mins before closing and they happily took us and served us some amazing food.
Shrimp and grits were great too. All of it was. Even the kids food. Sweet tea was great. Hushpuppies were great. I was very impressed and that’s hard to do with seafood/cajun for me. I’m usually “meh, could’ve been better.” I’ll be back.
