Came in Monday January 26th for dinner with a few of our co workers. We each got a plate and portions were huge! Definitely enough for two people to share but one person would eat it if they are hungry enough. I got the vegetable plate with pasta, rice and salad, it came with a green sauce that was a little spicy but very delicious. We also got a plate of sambusas to share and mandazi. The sambusas were my favorite, they come with a minced beef and some kind of vegetable. They were so savory and fresh. Overall food was very good, I’d like to come back and try a meat dish next.

We visited this restaurant and ordered the chicken wraps and roasted goat cutlet, and the food was absolutely incredible. Everything was bursting with flavor and perfectly seasoned. The chicken was tender, the goat was beautifully spiced, and even the rice had an amazing taste with just the right amount of seasoning. It felt like true comfort food, and my husband and I enjoyed every single bite until the plates were completely clean.
What made the experience even better is that the food is halal, which is always a big plus for us. The blend of spices was spot on, with each dish full of depth and aroma without being overwhelming. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and there is plenty of parking available, which adds to the convenience.
The prices are slightly on the higher side, but considering the quality, taste, and portion sizes, it feels completely worth it. The food left such a lasting impression that we could not stop talking about it afterward. It is the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again. Overall, a fantastic spot for delicious halal food and a truly satisfying dining experience.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in San Jose! I genuinely crave it monthly. This unassuming location is right by the VTA Station. A little outdated interior, but gets the job done. It can get really busy, so I recommend ordering ahead if you don’t plan to dine-in. The staff here are nice and work quickly!

My recommendation is the Beef Suqaar! Each piece of beef is soooo tender and juicy. Flavored so well without being overwhelming or salty. I enjoy this with the rice and salad! As the beef gets fatty, it’s a good balance. The green sauce is super spicy, but a really nice creamy kick! (I personally can’t handle the heat)

Huge portions, high quality food, and GREAT prices! I ordered the Jubba chicken wrap, mandazi, and sambusa, all of which were a delight. The chicken was cooked to perfection, so juicy and tender. The yogurt sauce in the wrap complimented it perfectly. Very casual, laid-back environment. They also had complimentary hot herbal tea which was also a perfect way to wash down a heavy meal. I want to come back to try the plates too!

Best Somali food in San Jose — hands down!

Jubba Somali Restaurant is truly a hidden gem in San Jose. From the moment we walked in, the owners made us feel like family. Their customer service is on another level — warm, welcoming, and genuinely caring. You can tell they take pride in every guest who walks through their doors.

The food? Absolutely incredible. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The goat was tender and rich, the rice was aromatic, and everything tasted authentic and homemade. You can taste the love and tradition in every bite.

There’s also plenty of space, which makes it perfect for families, groups, or even hosting gatherings. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting.

If you’re looking for authentic Somali cuisine in San Jose, this is the place. No question — this is the best Somali food in San Jose. We will definitely be back again and again!

Highly recommend!

Had some Somali food for the first time in my life and had no regrets. The staff at this restaurant were pleasant to talk to. I had the Tilapia Fillets an the food was absolutely worth the price. Will definitely be coming back.

Update: Went again on 12/12 for their Beef Suqaar. Absolutely amazing, will be coming back soon.

We tried a bit of everything and it was all great. Chicken, beef and goat was all well spiced and delicious. Staff was friendly and went out of their way to accommodate. My kids scarfed down a bit of everything and we had lots of leftovers. They loved watching the trains go by as we ate. Wish it wasn’t so far from my house because I’d be there every weekend!

When you take a bite of Jubba’a Somalian food, your eyes light up and you say , “wow.” So flavorful. This place’s food is absolutely amazing, delicious and they have large portions. It’s a great value for your money. The only reason why I gave four stars on Service and five stars on food and atmosphere is because it can take anywhere between 35 to 45 minutes before your order is ready if they’re able to get it down to 20 to 25 minutes that would be awesome. If you’re going to sit in this restaurant, bring a book or a deck of cards to play with and be patient for your order. Other than that I would still continue to come to this place because the food is absolutely out of this world delicious.

Mandasi was very flavorful and the goat very tender. Great portions as well. Great experience. Very awkward seating arrangement, but that’s negligible if they are not busy.
