So, I was craving some Mexican food and a good margarita, so I decided to try Juan’s Cantina. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a big mistake.

The food was very disappointing from the start. The pico de gallo salsa had almost no flavor—I had to add quite a bit of salt and pepper just to make it taste like something. I ordered tacos, but the tortillas were cold and the meat was cold as well. When I tried the rice, it was hard and clearly undercooked.

I mentioned the issues to the bartender, who turned out to be the owner. I would have expected at least an offer to replace the meal or possibly comp something, but that didn’t happen. I was still charged full price.

Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, but at least it was a lesson learned. I personally would not recommend this place and would encourage others to try a different restaurant if you’re looking for good Mexican food.

0 stars!!! First time I’ve experienced such rude customer service from all the staff at a restaurant! Very disappointed that my friend and I experienced this. To begin with, when we arrived there were only 2 other customers so they were not busy. We came early before the lunch rush. My friend and I were asked by the waitress if we needed anything before our food came and I asked for ice water and she gave me a cup of ice LOL. So my friend told me I could have her water since the waitress never came back with water. Then we waited about 45-1hr to have our food served to us. My friend ordered shrimp ranchero and i order steak fajita burrito. After taking a bite, we both agreed it was all way too salty. After trying to consume more of it, I decided to ask the waitress if we could have them re-made because my beans were salty, my steak pieces were burnt, and the veggies were salty. My friend said her plate was salty too. Waitress said i dont know i will need to ask my manager she then proceeds to take our platters back to the kitchen to tell her manager. The manager/cook comes out and aggressively starts speaking to us in an ill-manner and says what was wrong with your beans? I said they were salty and so was the burrito. He says he tried the beans and they were fine. So i want to make sure i make it the way you want it. Please note this was not with a polite tone. Otherwise i would be less upset. He did the same to my friend. He said okay im going to remake both. My friend and I walked over to use the restroom and within 1 min the bartender proceeds to casually walk in and wash her hands and ask my friend “did you girls forget something?” How absurd and offensive! She assumed we were pulling a dine and dash?! Very disrespectful and rude! My friend told her we were just using the restroom. No one apologized for any of this. I will never recommend this establishment to anyone! Please think of what customer service means as a representation of your brand.

WARNING ‼️: We’re new to the area and tried Juan’s after hearing it recommended by a few local business owners. We had 12 people with us (whole family in town), so we were excited to support a local place and bring them a big table of business.

Unfortunately, multiple meals came out cold (5 in total), and we mentioned it immediately – calmly and respectfully – because we assumed they’d want the chance to fix it.

Our waitress, Yemi, was honestly the best part of the lunch. She was attentive, kind, and genuinely apologetic. She handled everything with professionalism and grace.

The manager (who may also be a cook) is what ruined it. He was angry, hostile, combative and argumentative right away – and what stood out most is he didn’t even lead with solutions like re-cooking, replacing plates, or trying to make it right. No real apology for the food, and definitely no apology for the experience. It wasn’t until AFTER we told him his attitude was awful and that he needs to leave us alone and let the waitress handle it (as he is making things worse) that he offered to either take the meals off the bill or remake them- and he didn’t apologize at all, then with a massive chip on his shoulder he said again he didn’t believe our food was cold. Some of us said take their food off the bill and some one of us had it remade.

At the end as we were leaving, he actually doubled down on his awfulness and gave what felt like a sorry excuse for an apology. His version of “sorry” was basically: “I should have been nicer when telling you that you were wrong about the food being bad or cold.” Then he said, “I’m sorry, I’m just really passionate about my food – especially when I’m told it was cold when I know it was hot.”….. SERIOUSLY!? That’s your apology for our experience and multiple people immediately telling you the food was cold, why would that many people lie…. Wow

So… not an apology for our experience, not an apology for the cold food – more like “sorry you saw me get upset while I told you you were wrong.”

Food mistakes happen. How management handles them is what matters – and this was handled terribly. We won’t be returning, and I’m sharing this so others know what to expect. Again, Yemi was great – she deserved way more support than she got.

Came here for a late lunch early dinner. My wife ordered the light Chicken Chimichanga and I got the light Ground Beef Chimichanga. We were the only customers they had. When I say “light” it means one chimichanga vs. two which they normally do. First, we didn’t receive chips and salsa until our dinner came out and asked for some salsa. The chimichangas came out and we are highly disappointed! Almost laughable how they make their chimichangas. They are tiny, came out dry meaning no cheese or anything on top. My rice and beans were cold. I wouldn’t recommend this place. It’s just not that good. It’s unfortunate because Carson City doesn’t have that one spot that is perfect. I mean the atmosphere is great, the service is great and the food is great. Juan’s is definitely not that! Seriously, when I say I could have received a better lunch at Maverick gas station !

I would say the food is more American Mexican than traditional Mexican… but it is still very good and prices are fair. They have a wide array of cocktails and they are really really good… the service we received was really amazing. He was very attentive and super helpful… the restaurant has great ambiance and was very clean – as were the restrooms. If wanting legit authentic Mexican food there are others places in Carson which are more real but for good food and great drinks in a very clean restaurant I think this is a wonderful option and again the service is second to none!

We drove through Carson City Nevada, we were all hungry and needing a pit stop.
We decided to stop and have lunch!
Great food, great service, great atmosphere! This place was bright and cheery!
The chips and salsa was yummy. The Pico was super mild so we asked for a bit spicier salsa and boy did they deliver!
The kids had bean and cheese burritos, they were huge! I had nachos with no meat. Easy to make pretty much everything on the menu vegetarian.
We had wine and beer too. 4 meals and two alcoholic beverages and our ticket only came out to 54$
There was street parking on the side 2 hour max, free!
And right in front only 20 min parking.
Anyway if your passing through and looking for a quick bite that delicious and affordable, definitely stop here!!!
Oh one more thing, this place has a nice big seating area for private party!

Some of the best Mexican in town!

Came to Juan’s to experience a new Mexican cuisine, and boy were we impressed. Walking in the front of the building you are welcomed with an array of colors symbolizing the mexican heritage. All the employees were friendly and attentive to all our needs, especially our waiter Rolo. The food was incredible. My favorite was the sampler plate – specifically the chimichangas. That could have been a meal for 2 in itself!

My husband and I loved the salsa. This is the only mexican restaurant that puts a spoon in their salsa – genius!

The fajitas with chicken was great. Their beans and rice were classic! They did not skimp on the sour cream, that was a plus.

My husband had the Carne Asada Tampiquina. He did not expect a full steak, but he was happy with how it was cooked – medium rare.

We will definitely be back!

Also looks like they might have a room for events, but we didnt ask.

Great atmosphere, very friendly staff and service! The drinks were delicious, the food was ok. We loved the chips and salsa, but we were disappointed that the beef was ground beef. We were expecting shredded beef. The three of us all ordered dishes with beef, and the taste was definitely a bit off putting. They did have delicious chili rellanos. Hoping they will get more authentic meats as their popularity grows!
