Service was so professional and refills were plentiful. My wife and staff live this place. There is also a family friendly side.
The closest to a home cooked Mexican food that my family would have made. Everything was so tasty and perfectly made. It was lunch time and it was pretty full so get there either early or late after the crowd. No reservations required. Chips and Salsa are free, but you have to pay for Salsa if you want to take some home. Refried beans are also available for dipping your chips. They are made fresh and taste so good. Excellent service compliments the fajitas and caldos we ordered. Definitely a place to return to. There was a lot more food in the servings than expected.
They give you a big basket of tortilla chips with salsa and beans as soon as you sit down. Upon placing an order, each of us got a small bowl of soup which was delicious.
Fajitas for two (chicken and steak) – 4.5/5 delicious! Though I felt like there wasn’t much steak compared to chicken. I paid extra for nopales (cactus) but it wasn’t like what I had in Mexico – I’ll skip it next time. You can ask for extra tortillas at no extra cost.
Make a reservation online to skip the wait!
While you wait, they bring out free chips with a few different spicy sauces (you need to ask for if can handle the heat)—perfect to munch on. Then comes the main event: sizzling fajitas, crispy chilaquiles, and margaritas that hit just right. Everything tastes fresh, flavorful, and just makes you happy to be there.
I recently visited Juan’s Flaming Fajitas & Cantina on Veterans Day and, overall, the food and atmosphere were good. The fajitas were flavorful and the portions generous: solid, satisfying Tex-Mex. What really stood out, though, was our waiter. He was kind, patient, and absolutely wonderful with a young person in our party who is learning how to order at restaurants. His warmth and professionalism made the experience feel comfortable and inclusive, which meant a lot to all of us.
Unfortunately, the visit ended on a sour note. When I asked the hostess if there were any Veterans Day specials, she proudly told me that JFFC’s offers a 15% discount for veterans every day, not just on the holiday. I appreciated that gesture and she said I’d just need to show my ID.
At the end of our meal, I left my VA paper card with the only person at the table who wasn’t in the restroom so the staff could apply the discount. When I returned, I was told they needed to see my ID in person. No problem. I showed my passport card (I’m traveling) and explained that my driver’s license has “Veteran” printed on it, though I didn’t have it with me. I even had a photo of the license, which I’d used for another verification service, but the waiter explained that corporate policy required him to swipe the physical license chip to confirm eligibility.
That level of verification felt excessive for a small 15% discount, and more importantly, it wasn’t communicated up front. Had I known that only a scannable driver’s license was accepted, I never would have asked. Instead, it turned an otherwise five-star evening into an incredibly frustrating one.
I want to emphasize that our server did everything right: he followed the rules courteously and clearly felt bad about the situation. My frustration lies entirely with corporate policy, which created unnecessary rigidity in what should have been a moment of appreciation for veterans.
I won’t be ever be returning, but I hope the management team reconsiders how they handle their veteran discount verification so no one else leaves feeling dismissed over something meant to honor service.
The atmosphere is comfortable and energetic and the bar area is really inviting. The service was really good and I mean really good; bordering feeling rushed. For me the food just wasn’t that next level that warrants 5 stars and the price on the menu. Of course this is my opinion, there are lots of folks that would disagree.
I will go back and try a couple of more menu items, but I don’t think this will be a regular place for us to eat.
