The Queen of Yum
I was pleasantly surprised!

I usually keep my expectations low when it comes to small-town eats—maybe that sounds rude, but when you’ve eaten at as many places as I have, you understand why. So when I find a spot that not only exceeds those expectations but also delivers great service and a clean bathroom, I have to share!

I was passing through Dumas on a road trip and staying overnight. I wanted something Asian-inspired and almost tried the local buffet, but the curb appeal wasn’t convincing me. I looked around a bit more and came across JT Oisji. The photos looked promising, so I went in—and I’m glad I did.

The staff was warm and welcoming, and the bathroom was clean (which is always a big deal for me). I noticed a couple enjoying a huge bowl of wonton and dumpling soup, and since it was cold outside, that’s exactly what I ordered. The broth was flavorful without being too salty, the dumplings were perfect, and a little chili oil made it even better.

I’m an egg-noodle lover, so I also tried the combination chow mein with shrimp, chicken, and beef. It was delicious, and the squeeze of lime they serve on the side added the perfect freshness.

I finished with the tempura fried cheesecake. It was tasty—slightly oily, and I would’ve loved more strawberry sauce instead of the chocolate—but still a fun treat to end the meal.

All in all, a great meal for a small city and definitely worth the stop if you’re passing through.

The dining area is nothing special but it’s clean and well-kept, and the food is AMAZING! My husband had the Pad Thai and I had JT’s Special Noodles and both were fresh and flavorful. We will definitely be back whenever we’re in town.

Their fried rice, Mongolian beef, and rice mango were very good!

It’s very affordable and they care about their customers. I like the atmosphere, very family-friendly.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you stop in town!

Last time I was here it was under different management, the food is still REALLY good here. The inside is a little under dressed and unfinished, but the food definitely makes up for anything that might be lacking elsewhere.

My husband and I were passing through town on a road trip and stopped by here for dinner with our toddler. The food was refreshingly delicious and the waitress who served us was very friendly, attentive, and also sweet with our toddler. The waiter was attentive and helpful too. The service was also quick! If we pass through town again, we will definitely stop by! We had the red curry, moo goo gai pan, and spring rolls.

We are staying overnight in Dumas as we drive through town. We ordered takeout and the food was so good. We loved the wontons fried rice and Pad Thai was really flavorful. The portions are huge and the price is really reasonable. What a gem this place is. Highly recommend.

I was craving some good sesame chicken and fried rice so, I went there on Monday June 16th for lunch. The very young waitress spoke so softly I could barely hear her and I felt as though she was rushing me to get my order. I was one of only 7 people in the place. I finally ordered my food over a child (belonging to the other waitress) played with a very loud toy sounding like a barking dog. When my food arrived…nothing like I had ever seen before. Sesame chicken is one of my go to’s but obviously not at JT Oishi Cafe. The tiny chicken bites were covered in a large amount of sweet breading with no sauce. The sauce was served on the side. I have no idea what kind of sauce it was but the there version because I believe I saw 4 sesame seeds on top. The fried rice was ok but nothing too special. I will never return. I only tried it because my normal sushi spot was closed on Mondays.
