My Dad (in my opinion) was a master on the grill and is a southern food connoisseur so I decided to get him a lunch plate from JT Grill and Event Center. After listing his choices over the phone, he opted to try the meatloaf with tomato sauce, macaroni in cheese sauce, candied yams, corn, and a roll (as his bread option). It was a to-go order so my interactions with the staff were rather brief yet very pleasant. I’m not sure if it’s her personality or if she has a doctorate degree in knowing how to render excellent customer service but the waitress, who waited on me, did three (3) things that necessitated this 5 star rating: 1) she smiled, 2) she was attentive, and 3) she wasn’t suggestive (she patiently waited for me to order).
As for the quality and palatability of my Dad’s meal, when asked how it was, he replied, “Oh…it was good.”

JT’s Grill and Event Center needs to be renamed Okolona’s Finest. This place is truly a gem with downhome cooking, an hospitable environment, and helpful staff. Pricing is easily considered a steal as portions are hefty at reasonable cost. The restaurant also includes a stage for local acts, pool tables, and located on the edge of Okolona’s entrance where it would be impossible to miss. I can’t wait to visit again.
