Love the Gyukatsu here (beef cutlet).
Things you should know:
I. SERVICE
Ordering is simple, you do it all at the kiosk. When your food is ready, it’ll be served at the designated counter
II. QUALITY
Excellent. This place serves authenticity like various dishes we’ve had in Japan.
III. CAPACITY
Fair amount of available seating inside during weekday at lunch hours. This place seems to predominantly cater to-go orders.

Solid East Village Spot!
I stopped by J’s Kitchen and tried the Black Curry Chicken Katsu with a side of Miso Soup.

The Food: Everything tasted incredibly fresh. The chicken was the standout—perfectly flaky and had a great crunch to it.

The Portion: The portion was not as big as I expected at first glance, but it turned out to be just the right amount. I left feeling satisfied and energized.

I highly recommend this spot if you enjoy Japanese curry! Also, make sure to read the background on why they serve the specific items on their menu. This restaurant actually comes from a well-known and established business in Japan—we are truly lucky to have them here in NYC!

Do NOT order from this place it’s a SCAM. Portions are tiny, food is awful. I went to the restaurant to confront them after ordering delivery only to discover that the restaurant itself is very dirty.

One of the best Japanese meals I’ve had in New York. I had the chicken katsu don and loved every bite. The chicken was thick, juicy, and perfectly fried. My husband enjoyed the black curry chicken. Will definitely be back!

Loved the chicken cutlet sandwich, was very tasty. However, I have to be honest that not having a bathroom in a food spot is pretty unreasonable for people with accessibility issues. I couldn’t find any reviews or message that called out a lack of a restroom, so once discovered this had to take my food and eat it elsewhere.

I had a super good time at J’s Kitchen! The staff was really kind and accommodating and the food was delicious too. When it came out it was super hot because it was straight from the kitchen which was so nice. I also really appreciated that the hamburger came with sides like fries and pickles 🙂

It was definitely a new kind of Japanese food experience for me but the quality of everything was great. ++++ you also don’t have to wait a long time to get it! Everything about this restaurant is very quick and organized. They definitely get your food to you quick and the interior is very neat and aesthetically pleasing.

Such a great spot for an easy lunch. I’d been craving pork katsu for a while and the one here hit the spot. The pork was tender and juicy with a wonderfully crispy exterior and the black curry provided the perfect mix of sweet and savory. I’ll be back.

J’s Kitchen has been on my bucket list for a while and we finally got a chance to visit it.

The decor is simple, bright and humble with cozy ambiance & limited seating. They serve dishes from 6+ popular restaurant brands in Japan.

We got Roast Beef Don in regular size and Beef Cutlet Combo to share between us. Both orders were served warm and impressively delicious, especially the roast beef, which was tender & flavorful. Moreover, they also made rice and side salad perfectly.

The price is extremely reasonable with its portion and delicateness. We highly recommend to give them a try.

Pretty authentic Japanese selections that covers various famous locations in Japan. It’s a cute little restaurant with minimalistic decor and offers a warm and welcoming dining experience! Service was friendly and quick as well! We got the Hamburg set and the potato salad side. The Hamburg was flavorful and the fries and little veggies that accompanied it tasted good too! However, the price is on the higher end for what it came with. Even more so for the small scoop of potato salad on that big bedding of lettuce, which really cheapened the experience unfortunately. The quality of the food is definitely there, but I believe they can do even better if they adjusted the price a bit and offered a little more portion for the potato salad, because let’s be honest, that’s barely one potato for $5.50…

Hoping for the best and will come back to try some of their other items one day. Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:
