My Philly Cheesesteak was served on a hotdog bun. Like a tiny bun you get at a gas station. It was disappointing. Also, I bought a loaf of “sourdough” bread because I saw it on their online menu. It is not real sourdough. I would liken it to an Italian loaf from HyVee. Again, disappointing. My sons “chicken ceasar salad” was not at ALL what was described. Unfortunately, won’t be making the trip back here again, after it being a long time favorite.

This place is outstanding. They don’t skimp out on the food portions. The food is delicious. I highly recommend this place. I gave the atmosphere a two star because the restaurant is in a very small building. Because they are extremely busy all of the time, I feel like they need to either upgrade their building to a bigger size or they need to move to a bigger place. I feel there needs more seating and space so people aren’t on top of each other. Other than that, this place is great and so is the staff.

First time trying J’s Home style cooking. Great down home atmosphere. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was good. My sister had breakfast and the portions were good sized. I had the large pork tenderloin. It was thin and tender, and battered well. Served on a hoagie roll. I have it saved to visit again.

Went with several people for lunch. It was busy, but we were seated quickly. The staff are friendly. I ordered cheese curds and the hot turkey plate. The food was good. They have good pastries as well.

Props to J’s that has some pretty doggone good food. Tenderloins and hot beef sandwich are two favorites. Service is hit and miss, but overall it’s a comfortable, old style eatery with dependable dishes. A solid 4-4.5.

Our young lady avoid our table it sure seemed like. We always had to get attention from another staff member but then they looked at us like…you aren’t my table. They kept getting feeling like hurry up eat to someone else could sit down. But food was good this is pretty much how it has been last few times I was there that’s why I really space out before I go back.

The food is always great, always fresh, and the staff is amazing. The place can definitely be busy so know that going in but have never had a bad experience here.

Stopped in for a quick supper before football game. Nice “small town” atmosphere! Servers were very friendly and attentive. Food was excellent and ‘almost’ too large of portions, but i finished it!!!
Highly recommend!!!

Just left the Camping show and needed a bit to eat. I google the best home cooking restaurants in Cedar Falls and this place popped up!
It’s so close to where we were was an added bonus.
Nice greeting and place sit where it’s clean and open.
Waitress came over right away with menus and silverware. Got our drink order and said someone would soon be other.
The menu has a good selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner selections.
Jess out waitress came over and we explained this was our first time here and not locals.
My wife asked what she would recommend to us. Jess asked a great question first. “What are you hungry for? Breakfast, lunch or dinner”. We said lunch and she gave us 4 things said liked. My wife chose the Italian beef with a juice. Packed with plenty of meat, cheese and chopped onions. Along with a side of tater tot’s.
I ordered the recommended hot beef sandwich with mash potatoes and gravy. Glad I got the half because it was plenty and a cup of their pot pie soup.
My wife’s meat was somewhat dry until you dipped it. It had more onion in it than she would have wanted. The toys were fried a little much. Not much taste.
My dish was amazing. Meat tender, gravy tasty, bread huge and mashed potatoes yummy.
The soup was interesting and very good.
Jess our service was more than helpful and prompted.
We would come back again and try other selections.
I would recommend this home style cooking restaurant to anyone.
Until next time.
