JRECK Subs

  4.2 – 130 reviews  $ • Sandwich shop

Fresh-made subs and sides that redefine delicious! JRECK Subs was founded in 1967 when five Northern New York schoolteachers started selling submarine sandwiches out of an old, converted school bus. Their names were Jerry Haley, Robert Martin, Ellis Martin, Charles Lehman, and Keith Waltz. And, if you take the first letter of each of their names and put them together, you get the word, “JRECK.” Since then, JRECK subs stores have opened up throughout New York State and continue to offer the best-tasting subs around. Each JRECK Subs store is locally owned and operated by dedicated franchisees who honor our past by retaining a foundational engagement of support with educators, schools and other organizations in the Ogdensburg area.

Chain of casual sandwich shops serving hot & cold submarine sandwiches, plus soups & salads.

Great place! Unfortunately, this is a Northern New York only thing. When my brother and sister-in-law lived in Indiana and he knew my parents were coming to visit, he would have them throw a sub in their cooler and bring it to him. That’s how much he loves Jreck’s. The rolls never get hard the next day. Great prices!

We crossed the border Saturday and really wanted to try a Jreck subs… What a mistake. ALL of the staff were totally miserable and the subs were Metro grocery store quality with all of 4 toppings to choose from! Bread was ok, meat was tasteless and lacking; and they were slapped together so sloppily. Any other sub shop puts Jreck to absolute shame. Atmosphere was like eating in a dingy cafeteria, won’t be back.

This Jreck store’s products are consistent and tastes like the Jrecks I’ve been used to for 50+ years. They take NO shortcuts. This store is well worth your visit.

The place is nice ànd very clean. The workers go above and beyond. The only bad time i ever had there the owner made my sandwich with the wrong ingredients and then kind of yelled at me for taking two napkins . I guess he didn’t realize there was two people eating the sub. If those napkins where the difference in keeping the lights on he is in trouble. i hope not.

Best subs around! We will actually drive over the border (we’re Canadian) just to get a jreck sub.

The meat portion on my wife’s sub was extremely skimpy. She got a whole steak, and the amount of meat she received was barely enough for half a sub. Also, I asked for cooked onions for my rib sub, and never received them. Definitely not worth the $$$ I had to shell out.

I’ve been to many Jreck Subs locations and generally had positive experiences. However this particular Jreck location was abysmal. The staff acted like we were an imposition for coming in and wanting subs. I ordered a large roast beef sub and the woman making it just spread out the portion of meat they would use for a small sub.

First of all my Best Friend and I used to go to this store couple times a month for lunch until about 5 months ago we went in and employees were not wearing their masks and 2 were coughing horribly. And then today I stopped in to get a sub for my fiancee for dinner and neither employees had their mask over face they were below the chin. And the one that came from store area to make my sub was gonna wear the same gloves to prepare my sub that she had on to do whatever it was she was previously doing in the store area. They do not follow guidelines for COVID whatsoever and needless to say they have lost alot of customers due to this. I am one of them because I will never step foot in this business again.

The girl making the subs was not wearing mask properly, her nose was uncovered, which defeats the purpose of wearing it. My bf who ordered our food asked her politely and quietly to cover her nose while she made our food. She responded with anger and bad attitude, made our subs very sloppy, and angrily squeezed massive amounts of mayo onto each one. Also, I couldn’t eat my sub, cause 3 bites in I got a mouthful of something gritty n crunchy, like sand or something else had gotten into it. This was my first and last time trying Jreck subs.
