The service was great, and the food was good. The tables were all dirty and sticky. Grab your food to go and you’ll be good.

The subs here are good. Of course, I’ve never had a JRECK sub that wasn’t. This particular place is very dated and a bit rundown. (The menu boards were so faded that you couldn’t see any prices). However, it seemed clean considering. They only had one employee. So it took a few minutes. No big deal. It looks a bit depressing in there. So, we took them to go and ate at a picnic table across the road at the park.

Dirty and sticky floors, tables not washed , the sub was nasty . Old stale sub roll . The skimpiest amount of chicken sir fry. Will Never return . The friggin lady on the Fryer needs to learn how to cook.

Good food and service, frankly, could use a coat of paint. Next time we’re in the neighborhood, will probably stop in for a sandwich. Worth the visit.

Was there just after 2 pm on 8/12/25.
Food was not bad, standard Jrecks.
Staff (1 male, 1 female) had zero personality , even unfriendly. It was obvious they didn’t want to be there, or hated their job.
Restaurant needed a good cleaning.
NO prices for any items posted ANYWHERE.
Bizarre. Bad representation for Jrecks.

food is not worth your money. service was alright, i got my sandwich so that was good. barely any meat on my sandwich and very small selection of toppings and they can’t toast sandwiches which sucked if you wanted deli meat instead of their hot sub selections.

A couple weeks ago, a friend and I were in the Adirondacks for the weekend; we were leaving that Monday and needed food to hold us over until we got back to the Buffalo area. Well, driving through Tupper Lake we found a small sleepy plaza and a sub shop in it? Cool, that’ll do!

While the employees were friendly enough, it was a bit odd that the prices were not on the menu board… Who does that at a primarily take out establishment?

Upon sitting down to eat our subs (I purchased a full size tuna and a soft drink from the dispenser), it was noticed that the tables were kind of sticky almost as if they were not cleaned recently or they had used some kind of strange cleaner on it. That said, the building wasn’t in the best condition as shown by walking in and seeing the ceiling tiles in disrepair. Bathrooms were decent.

The Tuna Sub I had ordered did not come toasted (Apparently they don’t toast the sub rolls at this place) which was a bummer honesty but I’d like to think it was made up for with the rather generous amount of tuna meat that was applied to the sub itself. The produce on it was of reasonable quality also, which is as far as I am concerned a reasonable plus.

Would I come back if I had the option? Well, I am not sure especially considering there’s a newish McDonald’s just across the parking lot.

Visiting from out of town for the first time. There were NO other guests eating or in line around 1pm. Despite this the employees both looked exasperated to be waiting on us. The gentleman didn’t say much but the woman serving us was quite rude with both her words and hand gestures when she thought no one was looking (hint: I was). She was very pushy despite us stating it was our first visit ever to this franchise.

My daughter and elderly mother had to hover over the women’s toilet seat which had dried feces smeared across it, which is even more unacceptable considering that, again, we were the only customers.

The ice wasn’t working for the drinks and the worker rudely informed my mother of the fact (despite the fact she got a couple to dispense regardless).

The food was good, but nothing special. The most impressive part was the soft bread. Otherwise, it’s a basic sub shop with a rude staff and absolutely nothing that would ever compel us to visit again.

Jreck Subs in Tupper Lake: A Local Legend Lives Up to the Hype

Jreck Subs isn’t fancy, but in Tupper Lake, it’s a beloved tradition. Stepping into the shop feels like stepping back in time – friendly staff behind the counter, a menu board boasting classic sub options, and the aroma of freshly baked bread hanging in the air.

Don’t be fooled by the simplicity, though. Jreck Subs crafts some seriously delicious sandwiches. The bread is the real hero – soft, chewy, and the perfect canvas for their generous portions of fresh ingredients. We opted for the classic Italian sub, and it did not disappoint. Layers of ham, salami, pepperoni, and provolone, piled high with crisp lettuce, tomato, and onion, all drizzled with their addictive signature oil and vinegar. Each bite was a symphony of textures and flavors.

Jreck Subs isn’t just about the food, though. It’s about the experience. It’s the perfect spot to grab a quick and satisfying lunch, watch a game on the TV, and soak up the local atmosphere. The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the staff is friendly and efficient. It’s no wonder Jreck Subs has been a Tupper Lake staple for years. We’ll definitely be back!
