The food is amazing! The owner is very friendly and is great to chat with. The server was attentive and checked on me several times. Definitely an upgrade to the interior too from the old Sakura. I’m looking forward to going to their second place often!

This is mine and my wife’s favorite date night spot. They are always so friendly and helpful with suggestions on sushi rolls when we can’t make up our mind. One of our favorites is the volcano roll. It’s very clean inside and portions are great too. As for the review regarding paper plates, I’m sure it’s due to COVID. We can appreciate the extra steps for being more hygienic. It’s certainly not going to stop us from coming here

Sunday morning they had about 4 customers and it took about 30 minutes to get 2 sushi rolls that came on a dollar store paper plates and forks the floors and tables were very stickyand when my plate arrived all i could smell was fish and my spicey tuna roll was like a can of cheap mushy tuna and wasnt even edible and i know that this is gastonia but for 30 bucks i expected a lil better i hope they get this place turned around because even the cheap buffets are way better than this i now know why they only had a couple people in the place

Fantastic! We stop in on a whim. I bet we drove buy a hundred times before. We have officially found our new favorite local restaurant. Place was supper clean an food was super fresh. We stopped for an afternoon sushi snack and are going to order takeout for dinner tonight! You must must try!

Needless to say, I was one of those that was bummed to lose Sakura and did not venture into JPs. What a mistake that was waiting this amount of time. The sushi is probably the best anywhere in Gastonia. The menu is almost identical with comparable hibachi and teriyaki. I thought the staff was really nice. The folks running the sushi were well covered wearing face coverings, as well as the wait staff. The inside hasn’t changed much from the Sakura days, but I will say I preferred the classic rock they used to play inside to the contemporaries they play now lol. Will definitely be back. Great meal!

Sherry is an excellent server! She is efficient, accurate, and still manages to give friendly customer service. The food was also really good today. I had the hibachi chicken and my wife has the hibachi filet mignon. My wife’s filet was cooked perfectly where it was very tender and my chicken was pretty great as well.

I mostly always give places a 2nd try. So will try again but only at lunch prices. We had dinner (dine in) there and prices are about almost double for less food you get at other Japanese places. Soup and rice was cold. They offered to warm it up for me in the restaurant and I told them I would just take it home and warm it up. The salad was all lettuce, 1/2 of a 1 slice of cucumber and 1 strip if carrot. Chicken was over cooked and dry. The shells and end tail pieces where left on half of the shrimp and wasnt deveined. Other persons steak was fine but same cold rice. Waitress was nice and kept apologizing for the food but we told her it wasnt her fault.

Terrible. Went for dinner. Everything was served in or on paper/ styrofoam. Ordered the bento box with teriyaki salmon. It was so dry you couldn’t cut it and tasted like the leftover bits of a frozen filet of salmon. No wonder we were the only ones there on a Saturday night. I don’t write reviews and I’m by far a picky person but I had to share our experience. The shrimp sauce almost tasted watered down also. Sakura was BY FAR a better option.

Worst. Everything was served on paper plates. Junk was piled onto the sushi bar we couldn’t even sit there. Plastic cutlery and foam cups also. Nothing fancy about it. Food wasn’t even that good either. Idk why they would remove Sakuras to put this place its literally overpriced for the cheap presentation and quality of the food.

The best Japanese restaurant in the county!!! The food is ALWAYS delicious, fresh, and hot!! Friendly staff as well. I’ve never had bad food or service.
