First time visiting and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious and truly tasted like homemade, made from scratch with care.
The biscuits and gravy were incredible—rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The homemade hash browns were also a highlight: fresh, crispy, and full of flavor.
You can really tell the food is prepared with love. Highly recommend Joy’s Kitchen and I will definitely be coming back!

A quick and easy spot near Winter Park, Mt. Flora and Berthoud Pass. We easily parked along 40 and spent about 30ish minutes there. The service was great and felt like an old school diner. Our food came out fast and we ate it quick! Stop here and support a local family!

Joy’s Kitchen in Empire, Colorado, is a charming, old-style diner that feels like a delightful step back in time—a rare gem these days. For those leaving Denver early and heading to the ski resorts, this spot is the perfect place to escape the traffic and fuel up for the day ahead.
We stopped in for breakfast, and everything exceeded expectations. I had the Classic Breakfast, which came with two eggs, toast, hash browns, and my choice of meat. Everything was cooked perfectly, with the eggs just the way I like them and the hash browns crisp and golden. My wife opted for the Joy’s Cake Cakes, featuring two fluffy pancakes served with eggs, seasonal fruit, and 100% maple syrup. She loved the hearty portion and the authentic maple flavor.
What makes Joy’s Kitchen stand out even more is that everything is made on location, from scratch—even the bread! You can taste the difference in the freshness and quality of every bite.
The food arrived hot and fast, and the service was exactly what you’d hope for—warm and welcoming, with a down-home feel. The prices were just right, offering excellent value for the quality and portion sizes.
Joy’s Kitchen is open Thursday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., making it an ideal breakfast or brunch stop on your way to the mountains. The menu offers plenty of options, from breakfast burritos to French toast with seasonal fruit, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Highly recommend this diner for a tasty and memorable start to your day!

Unassuming small town has gem of a restaurant for anyone who loves starting off their day with friendly service and delicious, homemade breakfast staples served hot! I ordered a heartily packed omelet (spinach, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, feta, and ham), everything fresh and my tastebuds were thankful. Rosemary and olive oil bread (made fresh daily) was out of this world, got a loaf to go!!

Authentic natural food. I got the breakfast bowl. It was good. The portions aren’t large, so if you are really hungry get extra eggs or other food. The bread is delicious.

I had a veggie omelet and my partner had the pancakes, both were delicious! They have good options for vegetarians too. This place is so cute and cozy. Definitely worth the stop to support a family owned restaurant!

Whether you are on your way up to ski or just looking for a great meal, Joys Kitchen is a must stop shop! Nested in the old Hard Rock Cafe, Joys Kitchen offers a variety of baked goods, breakfast, and lunch options. Portions are a good size and prices reasonable (tax is cleverly worked into menu prices). While there, we tried one breakfast and one lunch item. For the breakfast, we had the biscuits and sausage gravy (pictured on the plate) and for lunch the pepper beef sandwich (pictured in my hand. Couldn’t wait for the photo) with a side beans. Everything tasted fantastic!
