Traditional dim sum restaurant that is quite excellent south of downtown Seattle. You will wait for seating but service via carts is quick and fast. Reasonable prices. All the entrees we had were fresh and delicious.

Joy Palace has been a favorite of mine for over thirty years, and it’s always a pleasure to see familiar faces among the staff. The restaurant is well-maintained, the customer service is top-notch, and the food presentation and taste are excellent. The owner is always welcoming and genuinely interested in your dining experience.

The menu features standout dishes like salted fish fried rice, stir-fried crab with ginger and green onion, and salt & pepper prawns. The crab maw soup is a perfect starter, served in a large bowl ideal for sharing.

In addition to their fantastic main courses, Joy Palace also offers a delightful dim sum selection in the mornings and into the afternoon, with all items on the carts being delicious.

However, there have been occasions where the to-go orders included undercooked items, like the shumai, which is the steamed pork and shrimp dumpling

The food and service was okay. The sizzling rice soup wasn’t very good though. Went on Xmas Eve and it wasn’t very crowded. The chowmein tasted good but it didnt have much of the other ingredients other than noodles. Our party enjoyed the salt & pepper pork chops the most. The shrimp with black bean sauce had too much green peppers in it. The shrimp with lobster sauce was good.

I was super excited for the silver fish but it wasn’t like the one that I got in Vancouver BC. Overall most of the food was good. The best was the scallion and ginger crab. The crab was deep fried first. Service was good and they are open on Thanksgiving.

BEST dim sum in Seattle. The staff was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. We were surrounded by mainly elderly, and it just felt like a big family reunion. The tea is really good. The flavors are AMAZING. I was especially surprised that my favorite dish ended up being the beef tendon soup. I was already so full by the time I got it, but upon tasting it I couldn’t help but finish the whole bowl. It was so rich in flavor and I crave it til this day. I will definitely be going back, this has to be my favorite spot in Seattle.

The food at this place was just mediocre. The staff was great and very friendly and deserves all the stars. The menu was all very clunky and definitely needed an upgrade.

Love this place. You know it’s a good sign when you are one of the only white people in the joint. The food is delicious. The staff are excellent.

FYI Never go there on a holiday, the place is packed and chaotic. If you go on a party of 5 or more, prepare to wait over an hour because most of their tables are for 4 people and 5 or more would need to wait for the big table, which is almost a 2 hour wait. When we got our table, I had to get my own plates, cups, and utensils because all servers are busy. Food was okay but too much MSG that I had to had my teapot refilled 3 times. When it came to paid the bill, one regular customer told us “no tip” they already added to the bill, 15% for weekdays and 18% on weekends and holidays. Before we leave, we order a roast duck to go for $36 but it was a huge mistake, it was all skin and bones. When we got home, everyone was drinking a lot of water and we chugged half a case of the large 1 liter bottle water. Eating out like this is “once in a blue month.”

A lot of the reviewers here don’t understand dim sum culture. It’s for brunch, it’s loud from the conversation, and the mannerism of the staff are typical. With that out of the way, this is some of the best dim sum you can get in the Puget Sound. Outside of going to Vancouver, this is the best in the PNW. The service here is cart based, with servers pushing steam carts and “dry” (fried and baked goods) carts around. You point at what you want (given the language barrier) and they’ll load up your table. They will then mark up a ticket for you to present to the register when you’re done. The staff here are used to the language barrier and have hired some dual language speakers to bridge the gap. There’s also table service for ordering large dishes such as the pork knuckle noodles which I order whenever I’m here. Prices are good for dim sum. I paid $60 to feed four to the brim.

They have dim dum in the morning where they put the dumplings in the carts and we can pick and choose. Very tasty with affordable price. However, it can be very crowded in the weekends so plan ahead
