Quaint chocolate shop in the historic village of Essex. We hand make caramel, chocolates and fudge in small batches right in the shop. We also offer an organic Guatemalan chocolate noted coffee, chocolate mint tea and hot chocolate. If you’d like something delivered locally contact us via phone or email to discuss. In most cases we are able to accommodate and we love being part of a special surprise for someone.

Absolutely delicious, beautiful designs and incredibly nice people. They made to order, on the spot, a special heart chocolate for my anniversary (had to wait 1.5 hours which allowed us to meander through Essex). Brew their own tea from Harney and the iced coffee was superb. They even had oat milk! Thank you Claire and Karen. Your shop is a delightful find!

Absolutely the best locally made chocolate. There are great options to choose from. The owner is very kind and can answer any questions. She gave me a free sample of a new dark chocolate with cut up pistachios, it was phenomenal!! Will definitely be purchasing that next time I head down. My favorite is the peanut butter melts, highly recommend!

I LOVE everything about this place. I visit every chance I get. They have an amazing selection of chocolates and every one I have tried has been delicious. A couple of favorites are the famous Dubai chocolates (definitely worth looking up and trying if you haven’t already) and the lemon creams. And the hot chocolate is spectacular! That alone would be worth the trip, but the shop itself is beautiful and, well, joyful and so is the staff. Special shout out to Sue the Chocolatier, who educated us on the chocolates. Plus Essex itself is gorgeous. I could keep going but, the key takeaway is I think you’ll love the place (I sure do)!

Went above and beyond to help accommodate my order. My wife was on a work trip and staying in Essex, Ct from Iowa and I wanted to have a few surprises waiting for her at her hotel. I called in to Joy Chocolate Co. and inquired about a delivery to hotel. Jennifer was super helpful and even sent me pics of the selections so I could decide what to buy. They made a fantastic box and the day my wife arrived the owner Claire ran them down to the hotel! The chocolates were amazing! The service to make it happen was amazing! The best hot chocolate ever. I was just in Boston and had hot chocolate at L.A. Burdick Chocolates, which is very popular and usually has a line out the door. Joy is better. The milk chocolate covered caramel with sea salt is amazing. Highly recommended!
