We stumbled across this place when my husband and I wanted to grab a bite to eat in Porterville and I saw the reviews of the food. This place was amazing. Everything was freshly homemade and just the service alone made me comfortable. The waitress was so kind and I really appreciate when I wanted to order something. She made sure that I understood exactly what it was And for that I do appreciate it. This place was 10 out of 10 and I definitely recommend the only bad thing is I didn’t take a photo of the chili Verde burrito, but It was delicious!

The service was good and the taste was excellent as well. Although the atmosphere or the vibe was not that fancy but I could feel the Mexican vibes and the food was also like local taste. I like it!! And the meat in the burrito or quesadillas was also

Service was excellent. Friendly. Helpful. Anticipated my needs. I had plenty of napkins and the right silverware before I needed it. Food was delicious. The (chipotle?) sauce on the shrimp taco was so good. I wouldn’t even bother with whatever the white sauce (mayo?) was that the shrimp was sitting on. Didn’t need it. Shrimp was perfectly cooked. Homemade tortillas were fantastic, plus it was huge. The quesabirria was also delicious. Wonderful homemade recipe flavor. Chips and salsa and a side of beans. All great. I judge pretty harshly on refried beans, and these were perfect. They have wine based margaritas. My server did an awesome job making mine. I downed it. I also judge a Mexican restaurant by its iced tea. Has to be brewed. It was brewed and fresh. Plenty of ice. Well worth the five stars. I will be back with my family. Thank you!! I do hope as it warms up they will add some tables out front for dining al fresco! They have the space!

Lovely. Our server was very sweet & friendly. She asked if we’d like to watch the game and put it on for us.
I had the spicy wet chili verde burrito & it was the best that I’ve had.
Definitely got our money’s worth in flavor and volume.

The best experience in Porterville by far! Other people told us about this place and you better try it! The owner is amazing and kind, and very preoccupied about our meals and the specifics of our seasonings ! You don’t believe me? I have been to different places over the globe and many different ones in California and I can’t believe Porterville has such a great restaurant waiting for us right by Plano and Date. Don’t misunderstand the amount of cars in the parking lot, most of the people just come to pick up their food!

I was driving through town with my family and the reviews looked good so we pulled in to try it. Service was very slow, food was very bad, place was in bad condition. I usually don’t write negative reviews but when dinner was over 100 dollars and I didn’t even have 3 bites of my slimey chili rellano I felt like I should make sure people don’t make the same mistake we did. I planned on telling them their microwaved food was not good, but they never asked how my meal was ♂️.
I did like the beans and rice. Lol

Another Mexican restaurant out of the blue, I came here on a Saturday afternoon. Not busy at all. Actually sat at a table this time, ordered a dark Modelo and went with an easy choice of chicken fajitas. You should know their menu is actually pretty decent, various choices that I qualify as uncommon.
The service was most excellent, get the free chips and salsa. The beer was refreshing. Gave me several slices of lime with it. The chicken fajitas were fabulous, a nice mix of bell peppers including yellow, red, and orange. The spices on the chicken were really nice, I did ask for some some red salsa picante and it did not disappoin. It is house made and very flavorful plus un poco picante. Glad I came here, hope to be back.

There are quite a few Mexican restaurants in Porterville, but Jovis is by far the best! The service and food is absolutely fantastic. The prices are very reasonable and the food portions are huge. Highly recommend everyone give it a try!

Great food, nice restaurant, quiet and not too busy waitress was polite. Not too pricey for what we ordered. Michelada was so good almost drank it too fast.
