I can’t speak highly enough about Backstreet Takeout. The service is fantastic! The food taste just like the dishes from 25 years ago, when it was Bays Corner. Having to work the school day, I don’t get to partake in the deliciousness as much as I would like. I highly recommend the cheezy chicken and I love the red beans and rice. Multiple toppings can be added to enhance the dishes. Best take away place around!

I have driven by this place many times and today I decided to stop. I looked the menu over and asked what their best seller was. I was told it was the Cheesy Chicken. The marinaded chicken was placed over a bed of rice and topped with cheddar cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, crunchy noodles and onions. It was very good!

It is weird. I was expecting something that taste like Asian food and this doesn’t. It doesn’t taste bad, but it doesn’t taste good either. Its an odd tasting gravy sauce with meat in it on top of rice with some additional toppings of your choise. It’s affordable and a good value but the flavor is not for me, I only ate a few bites and threw it away.

Always fresh and delicious! The food is consistent and the staff are friendly.
Think “build your own rice bowl.” I like the rice salad with cheese chicken. You get a base of rice and fresh, crispy romaine lettuce topped with their signature chicken in gravy, shredded cheese and any extra toppings of your choice (olives, cucumber, tomato, green onions, carrots, sprouts, crispy noodles) I recommend adding the ginger salad dressing.
The servings are LARGE! Come hungry or easily share.
Don’t forget dessert. The baked goods are the best in town.

Melissa’s is amazing! Love the food and people! Cheezy chicken over seasoned rice is my absolute fave! Also love the half salad 🙂 if the rice and beans is the special get that with Cheesy chicken, and you will thank me later.

A locals favorite. I keep intending to try their other offerings, but can’t seem not to get the cheezy chicken. Every time. Great lunch spot, serving the working community.

Excellent! I’ve worked nearby in Webster, NC and I have eaten here about 97% of the time. This is the kind of local gem that you will find nowhere else. The food is delicious. It is… kind of an Asian fusion genre that simply must be experienced. They feature a weekly special dish that truly shines. The food is fresh. It’s made right in front of you. The service is fast. Josh, Melissa and the other staff are very courteous. At about $10 to $12 for a lunch, it’s easy on the wallet. It’s a small place and carry-out only. Give it a try. You’ll like it!
My only caveat is that it that they are cash only. If they accepted credit/debit, it would be perfect.

I normally don’t write reviews, but I feel I have to because the other reviews left me with too high expectations as to the food. So first, the staff were super friendly. The ambience is pleasant and bright. It’s very cute. Also, the food is cheap. I can’t eat cheese, so I had to get the marinated chicken instead of the recommended cheesy chicken. It tasted so strongly of salt and chicken stock that it was difficult to eat. In contrast the seasoned rice had no flavor at all. There also isn’t really anything Asian about this at all.
Overall a decent experience, but not for the food.
