Tacos Tonatico are about as close an approximation to proper street tacos as you’ll find in New England, though the inclusion of lettuce is weird. Fillings have flavor and the tortillas are thin and light, though fall apart easier than handmade tortillas should.
Excellent value for money.

An offshoot of the late, great Jose’s Mexican restaurant in Cambridge. Many of the selections are the same. We came specifically for the pozole, a chicken and homily corn soup. A large bowl was loaded with big kernels of corn and plenty of chicken. A friend who was born and raised in Mexico said Jose’s pozole is top notch. Quality and quantity make for good value. We easily found parking on the street at no cost for 2 hours. Service was fast and friendly. They plan to expand inside and out so seating will increase. They’re also getting a liquor license.
We will return!

This place is a bit snug on the space level. They would truly benefit form outdoor seating. I am rarely ever out in this area but decided to pop in.

I got an order of tacos and chips and salsa.

Burria Tacos: Bless the hands of whomever made these! The tortillas has been dipped in the burria sauce before assembly making them even more flavorful, with extra burria sauce on the plate and the green sauce was creamy without being creamy and had a bright burst of flavor. Cheese present but didn’t take over. Beans and rice were good too.
Verdict: EAT THIS

Chips and Salsa: Here is my problem. The salsa, glorious, but there isn’t enough of it. The vessel they serve it in is deceptively shallow. Also the chips tasted a bit stale. I wished I got the salsa in a to go container and then got tortilla chips from a store.
VERDICT: OKAY

VERDICT: EAT HERE. GET THE TACOS, BUT SKIP THE CHIPS AND TAKE HOME AN ORDER OF THE SALSA.

Food is tasty, but poor value. Tried their 2 for 1 tostada, and while it was fresh and flavorful, very small portion for $12 each! Don’t expect high value for your money.

Very nice little Mexican restaurant. Located on a main street, it takes a few minutes to find parking nearby.

Pleasantly decorated interiors, clean restroom, also pleasant upbeat Mexican music.

Fresh and tasty food, more options than in the average taquerias. They also serve water and real utensils, not disposable.

Very good overall

Everything was delicious and so fresh tasting. We ordered enchiladas verdes, torta norteña, torta california(added rice, beans to these), tortilla soup(has a little bit of spice to it-not too strong though), churros and sopapillas from dessert menu. We will be going back again and for pozole too. Everything was terrific. It was all rich, refreshing with good flavor and I kinda felt like I was back in Mexico. This is one of the best places I’ve tried during this whole past 6 months and will be returning for sure. The restaurant looks very cute inside but we did a very easy order online and pickup.

Great place! They have both meat and vegan options. I tried the vegan “carne asada” tacos and was not disappointed! Fresh authentic corn tortillas and perfectly seasoned fillings. The verde sauce was tasty.
I didn’t care for the red salsa, thought it was too watery. I recommend getting the guac with your chips instead, it was good!
I got take-out. There are a couple of tables for dining in but it’s a small place. No outdoor seating.

Quick, no-fuss, good food. “Jose’s salad,” pictured below, has been a staple for me for months. I like getting it with homemade Chorizo and kidding myself that it’s still healthy!

My other favorites: tacos Tonatico because of the homemade corn tortillas, enchiladas, and the fajita plate if you’re dining in – it is served on the same plate it was grilled on and is quite fun.

Update 1/22/2022: I initially gave this 5 stars, but I just had one of the worst carnitas burritos I’ve ever eaten. Meat was soggy and flavorless. It was extremely disappointing. My last 3 visits haven’t been great. I guess stick with the tortas, but I won’t be back for a while. La Victoria’s is just close by.

Delicious Mexican food here in Arlington! Sandwiches are very large, which justifies the price. You can have it cut in half and share with someone. Here’s a picture of what I usually order. Cubana!

This place was pretty good. On the pricier side than, say, a food truck, but seemed authentically made, which is worth paying a premium for these days.
