Let me start with two things: (1) I’m a breakfast taco snob, and (2) I’ve eaten tacos from 200+ places across Texas. I searched “breakfast tacos near me” and Jo’s Cafe came up (4.5 ⭐️ with nearly 600 reviews — usually a good sign).

Ordered the chorizo, egg & cheese and bacon, egg & cheese, added the green salsa — and man… these were two of the best breakfast tacos I’ve had, period. Great flavor, solid tortillas, and that green salsa ties it all together.

The staff was fantastic too. They even asked how the tacos were, and I told them straight up: incredible. I’d already texted five people about this place before I left the parking lot.

If you’re anywhere nearby, it’s worth stopping in. I’ll definitely be back — often. Can’t wait to try their pancakes & French toast.

This is such a cute place. Order at the counter. Line went quick and food came out even quicker. Large coffee menu. We ordered the egg sandwich with sausage, the breakfast quesadilla, drip coffee and a sugar daddy latte. THANK YOU FOR KNOWING WE EAT QUESADILLAS WITH SOUR CREAM. Till next time!!

Jo’s food was amazing! I would for sure recommend the holiday hash and the turkey club!! Both were very filling 🙂
Thank you to Pedro and Ania for such great food and service!! We will definitely be coming back soon.

Jo’s Cafe is a cute, chill and apparently, well know eatery, with fast service.
I am picky about my pancakes, and let me say, The Cinnamon Roll Pancakes are a 5 Star delight, hands down!
The blond blend was very nice as well.
You don’t want to miss visiting this place, when in San Marcos, Texas!

What a cute food and coffee spot to go with friends! Food was great, coffee was delicious, and there is plenty of options. I love that you could come here to do homework and that you showcase artists work for sale. It’s also super close to campus so you could walk if you go to TXST, but there is street parking around the neighborhood.

I used to absolutely love this place but over the past few years it’s taken a huge nosedive in quality. I went today and ordered what use to be the best breakfast sandwich in town, I received a cold and soggy excuse for a English muffin with some bacon and an overdone egg thrown on. The sweet potatoes fries were both over fried, and cold. How does that even happen?
And to top it off the iced latte I ordered was basically a big glass of milk.
Find a different place to spend money and get yourself a decent breakfast.

Great comfort food! It has a very homey vibe with nice outdoor seating! Paint is available for sale inside. Games are available upon request. Parking can be a little hard around this area and the entrance is very steep for people with disabilities (I walked up the stairs with a broken at the time very doable just a piece of work).

For out of town crowd. This place is definitely for younger generation(I’m 32) not equipped for families with younger children(3 and 7). Upon walking in we weren’t greeted so we didn’t know if we were to sit ourselves or if someone would come to the table? You should order your food first and then sit at your desired table. We ordered a 2 French toast breakfast, 1 pancake breakfast, iced Milky Way coffee and 2 glass sweet teas(delicious tea). The breakfast was terrible, pancakes were dense with no flavor, eggs were salty because of the seasoned salt, French toast was dry and you could taste the nutmeg, but if I lived in this area I wouldn’t come back. With a tip for doing absolutely nothing(self serve) it was about $60. We did eat about 3/4 because we weren’t about to ask for our money back because this is a business but I wasn’t about to let it waste. Not impressed at all.

I wanted to love Jo’s Cafe but it definitely didn’t live up to the hype. This is not a young family friendly establishment. They have ONE high chair and ONE booster seat for the entire establishment so we were lucky to be the only family at the time. They also do not have a changing table in the bathroom.

When it comes to the food everything was over cooked and over priced imo. I regret not taking photos to show. The sweet potato fries flavor was good on the ones that weren’t charred. The pancakes were decent but nothing spectacular. We ordered over medium eggs and scrambled eggs and both were cooked well done. The coffee however was great. So that really carried me through the experience.

This is an order at the counter and bus your own table establishment, which I have no issue with. However with the turn over of people they definitely should be whipping tables and emptying their dish bin more frequently.

The atmosphere its self is great. They have a cute outdoor area and a good inside area. Like I said I wanted to love it but it’s just not going to be a regular spot in our rotation unfortunately. On a day I don’t have my family, I’ll definitely consider popping in for a coffee.

I’m still giving them a 4 start because of coffee and atmosphere alone. They are also great for anyone that’s not a family with young kids. Even though this isn’t going to my spot, I recommend popping in for a coffee.

As always my wife and I were driving around looking for a place to eat. Many other places here in San Marcos have some delicious whole in the walls. After picking up my SNL I asked both of them what they like to eat. We could not decide on where exactly we wanted to go or what our taste buds wanted to enjoy. Upon arriving at Joe’s Cafe we were greeted with a welcome 🙂 and a weld oil team that worked perfectly among each other. My wife ordered a sausage breakfast sandwich and it came with sweet potato fries (the sweet potato fries were delicious here. if I have to say so myself) and a cup of coffee which will not disappoint anybody if you’re a coffee lover. I had the pancake breakfast with over medium eggs and a cup of coffee, my sister-in-law just had a drink a Pinocchio latte I think anywho while I was eating nothing else mattered. Just so the review world would know I do not usually get five stars unless I have been impressed by the food I am a self-proclaimed chef myself and I give this place two thumbs up if I was Roger than Ebert. I know anybody who chooses to eat here will enjoy it. Thank you Liz and Sarah for making us feel at home. Props to your team and everyone who made my simple breakfast and my wife’s breakfast I know you made it with care and love.
Keep up the good work.
Sincerely
Straight Out of Hilbert’s Kitchen.
