The pork chop was hands down the best I’ve ever had – even cooked medium well it was juicy and flavorful. Such a wonderful meal to start our vacation!
I started with the New England clam chowder. The flavor was excellent — rich, balanced, and clearly well-crafted. The broth had that comforting depth you hope for in a proper chowder. My only disappointment was portioning of the clams themselves; I counted just three. With a chowder this good, I simply wanted more of what made it special.
For my entrée, I ordered the Bacon Onion Jam Burger. It was outstanding. The first half was juicy, properly cooked, and perfectly moist. The second half somehow tasted even better than the first — whether that was the house-made special sauce, the bacon onion jam, or the combination of everything working together, I’m not sure. But it was memorable. The burger came with hand-cut fries and house-made pickles. I initially didn’t see the pickles (they were tucked under the fries), and when I asked, the staff promptly brought more — which meant I enjoyed them twice. They were very good. They don’t rival Greg’s in the classic sense, but they stand on their own with a distinct character. I’d honestly be curious if they ever sell them by the quart.
The fries were the only element that didn’t quite match the rest of the plate. They appeared hand-cut, but lacked the crispness I personally prefer. They weren’t bad — just softer and more flexible than expected.
My wife, who has a gluten sensitivity, ordered the Roasted Half Chicken. She thoroughly enjoyed it and specifically mentioned the cheddar mashed potatoes were excellent. It’s always reassuring when gluten-friendly dining still delivers full flavor and satisfaction.
Service throughout was attentive and accommodating. Overall, we had a very good experience. A few minor points aside, the meal was enjoyable and thoughtfully prepared. If you’re seeking chowder, I’ve reviewed several around the area for comparison — but if you’re seeking a memorable burger, Jo’s delivers.
We’ll gladly return.
We started a few apps…. Duck and lobster quesadilla, the flavors work so well together. I was shocked.
The lobster bisque was some of the best we’ve ever had and the portion of lobster was well worth the price.
The calamari was cooked absolutely perfect didn’t even need a sauce.
For the entrees, hubby has the lobster carbonara was fantastic. And the pork chops were too die for. The bacon onion jam worked so well with the Brussels and sweet potato.
The restaurant is so pretty and such a nice atmosphere. I would highly recommend sitting outside if you have the opportunity.
All of the food we got was spectacular. The portions here are so good. We got the duck and lobster quesadillas (which seemed like an odd pairing but worked very well) and a cesear salad as starters. The salad was big and perfect for 2 people to split. For the main course my boyfriend got the lobster carbonara and I got the steak frites. Portions were super nice and everything was great. We also got a slice of their olive oil cake and the berries they put on the side I will be thinking about for a long time.
Really recommend coming here to get dinner!!
4 star because their lobster bisque was cold and it was okay. My fish and chips were a little soggy but the cod itself was very good. My husband’s stake came out well done when he ordered a medium rare, but he enjoyed it regardless. We did love the bread they served in the beginning. Also since it was his birthday they gave us a complimentary dessert and we loved it so much! Thank you!
