I usually don’t write reviews longer than a few sentences, but…
to say this was an experience would be an understatement. 3 hours of pure smiles. It’s hard not to smile when you’re here. The food was an adventure for your mouth. Which sounds cliché, but every bite has layers of flavor. Everything is precisely crafted and you can tell a lot of thought was put into each item.

Then there’s the staff. Extremely professional, but they’re more than happy to answer questions and chat. Insanely friendly people. They’re very detail oriented, noticing stuff as small as your dominant hand. And the cherry on top: I was celebrating an anniversary, and they went out of their way to make a custom themed presentation for the dessert, on theme for something we talked about with one of the staff members earlier in the night. Completely unprompted. By far the kindest gesture I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant.

I cannot praise this place enough.

We of course expected Jônt to be amazing – not just because it was from the team of our old haunt Bresca but the well deserved stars. Incredible dishes and wine pairings one after another. Very knowledgeable crew that kept showing up with little touches to take the evening over the top. The exec chef is and all of the team prepared everything to perfection. Definitely the best restaurant in the district. The reviews on the music are strange – we were boppin all night and had no problem with sound level at all.

Jont exceeds at creating a memorable experience! You sit at the counter and receive a lot of attention with, each dish is explained and some are presented to you prior to final cooking steps. You get to observe the entier process too, dinner and a show 🙂 All amuse bushes were delicious.
Food itself was great and we got to try a few unique items, such as fish with scales lifted up which added a nice crunch to the dish.
Desert courses deserve a special mention, after the meal you switch to a different room to enjoy them. Presentation is beautiful of course!
You can enhance your experience with various drinks pairings or additions. We only added a special melon which was lovely. You also get a welcome drink included with experience.
Note for the music too, it seems surprising at first as it is not whay you’d expect in fine dining ambiance, however it somohow works, it adds to the modern funky vibe of the place.

Great experience, and even with issues that came up, the management team helped settle the situation. The meal was a true work of art, and we are grateful for the time spent at this restaurant. We were extremely appreciative of the quality of service that was provided, and were very thankful for the hand written note and card given to celebrate our special occasions.

A great restaurant with some great staff. Did the multiple course dinner and went with the non-alcoholic pairing. The different courses not only tasted great they were well thought out and followed a theme.

The food was well executed with great flavors, but I personally wished there was at least one spicy element on the menu. The tasting experience was about three hours, which is normal for fine dining but felt a bit long for me. The interior also felt quite basic.

Such an elevated experience. Once you get to a certain level of restaurant you accept the food is going to be “good” and you search for things that set it apart even further. Jônt delivered and then some.

The service is what stood out to me as well as the menu. There were many surprises and things that continued to wow throughout the evening.

The level of craftsmanship, technique, and skill presented were masterclass. I loved my experience and would love to return again. The staff made my dining experience special and it was a memorable evening.

When you envision a Michelin star level experience, Jônt is the perfect incarnation.

Flawless service, polished and professional, but deeply engaged and personable, filled with storytelling that enriches the experience and makes everything indelible.

Extraordinary culinary bravery and creativity, filled with big swings that almost always connect, while staying accessible and enjoyable.

The open kitchen format and staff-sourced 90’s hip-hop playlist (filled with memorable tracks from when they were all getting into the restaurant game) added a loose, fun vibe that made you relax and really let yourself enjoy the experience.

No notes. Incredible job, Jônt team, bravo.

Dining at Jônt is more than just a meal, it’s a transcendent experience. From the moment you step inside, you know you’re in for something special. The atmosphere is intimate and elegant, creating the perfect backdrop for the culinary masterpieces that await.
The food itself is simply divine. Each dish is a testament to the chef’s dedication to quality and passion for their craft. You can taste the freshness in every bite, a result of the meticulous care and attention given to sourcing the finest ingredients. The flavors are a masterful blend of exquisite but familiar, a delicate dance on the palate that brings out the serene beauty of Japan’s shores right here in the heart of DC. The taste is so profound every bite is a revelation, sending you on a journey to pure bliss. Thanks Chef Ryan for your wonderful creation!

The food was excellent. But, like with minibar, we felt that the quality-to-price ratio was lower than other Michelin Star restaurants in DC. In this case, much lower.

We spent $805.86/person (including the mocktail pairing, tax, service fee, and two separate enhancements) for less food that was less delicious and more expensive than Little Pearl or Pineapple and Pearls. (Unaffiliated.)

The matsukasa yaki fish and some of the non-alcoholic pairings missed the mark for us. Additionally, the $225 enhancement (snow Wagyu and lobster) was not worth it at all; I was almost indifferent between the “enhanced” and standard dishes.

I really recommend that you save a few hundred dollars and visit one of the two Pearl restaurants instead.
