A Table For 8
My oldest treated me to brunch today at Jonny Cakes Cafe. Now, their menu didn’t have many non-pork items, so I went with something safe . I tried the turkey sausage with scrambled eggs, hash browns, and specialty pancakes – red velvet. She got the same thing, just with Oreo pancakes. Of course, the pancakes were the star of the show. My eggs were cooked too hard, the hash browns were bland, and the turkey sausage was flat, at best. The Oreo pancake was the best. The regular pancake mix has a really good flavor. The red velvet was chocolaty and had good cream cheese icing to pair. The service was excellent, fast, and reasonably priced. I’ll go again to try more pancakes and French toast.

Great restaurant with great food love coming here. They know how to bring service with quality together in such a lovely way. Love their food here. Worth the wait as well, trust me always a great time.

My girlfriend and I decided to try this place for the first time. We are a huge fan of breakfast and can be pretty picky at times. We both ordered omelette and pancakes. I also ordered a side of corned beef hash. The food was pretty good. The omelettes were slightly over cooked but still delicious. The pancakes were light and fluffy. The corned beef hash was decent. I’m pretty picky when it comes to corned beef hash though. The service was as expected. We had to wait for a table and we needed up sitting at the bar but I’d say it was worth it. Our server didn’t seem to be the friendliest but it was acceptable. Maybe it’s because they were going to close in roughly an hour but she could’ve been a little more welcoming. Overall first time experience was good and we would definitely come back.

They were one of the few places open on Memorial Day. Lots of parking. We didn’t wait long for our food. The portions are HUGE! They had to remake the eggs because they were definitely not overeasy. The food was okay but I wouldn’t come back. I don’t know why but the hollandaise sauce was awful. Didn’t taste right. Service was good. You don’t pay with the server but at the front. The menu options are okay.

Our first time visiting and the food was delicious and the pricing was very good. The restaurant seating feels a bit crammed and the service was sufficient…not and not bad but sufficient. Especially given how busy they were. I recommend trying the Monte Cristo it was beyond my expectations. The chicken cordon bleu omelette was really good also.

I was excited to visit Jonny Cakes in Troy, MI, but my experience was disappointing. The coffee cups had lipstick on them, and the sugar for my coffee contained hair. I didn’t enjoy my food and ended up feeling queasy. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this brunch spot.

Food was pretty good, although the hash browns were a bit undercooked. The service was not their best. The hostess was also the one refilling coffee, so she was constantly interrupted to seat new customers and when she started again, she focused on the side of the restaurant with all of the booths. Unfortunately, we were seated on the side with mostly tables. We had to go up to the cashier desk twice to get coffee and then they didn’t ask the table next to us, who also needed coffee. Our table was tiny and crowded, even after we found a spare chair to put the two large condiment baskets on. There were other couples who had a whole booth to themselves, who were likely a lot more comfortable. The tables were so close, when the waitress was taking the next tables order, her backside was in my partner’s face, very awkward for him. The waitresses were clearly understaffed, and on a busy morning, they weren’t the kindest. After asking for the check, it took over 20 minutes and us going back up to the cashiers area to get it. I’d come back for the food, but perhaps only on a weekday.

My Aunt and Cousin were in town, and someone recommended to my cousin that she check this place out.
Looking at yelp and google reviews, a lot of good reviews. Wow, looking through the photos, the food looked amazing, so I was excited to check it out.

I get here and looking over the menu; I was struggling with what to order. Everything sounded so delicious.
The waitress came back a second time and panic ordered. And I orderer the meat lover’s omelet when I wanted the thanksgiving omelet. There was other stuff as well. But there is always next time. I will be coming back because this place is fantastic.
The meat-lovers omelet was excellent.
My cousin ordered the Monte Cristo. They brought it out
And it looked like a work of art. She gave me some of it, and OMG, it was delicious. My Aunt got the classic Reuben, and she said it was good.
Also, I want to point out the customer service is top-notch here. I can’t wait to come back and try other menu items.

Not enough staff. Sat off to side, too crowded seating. Had to get up numerous times to get the staff’s attention. Great food, lackluster wait staff. Maybe they just need more help. Definitely need better table layout to the left when you walk inside. Do not be seated to the left when you walk in or you will be ignored.
