This was the third time trying Jones River Tavern. The last 2 times were within the first 3 months of opening. What a transformation in the last couple of years!!! We got the food Togo but it was spectacular. I highly recommend getting the 3 meat platter. Everything was fall off the bone tender. The brisket just melts in your mouth. If you like thick creamy cheesy mac then get it. The slaw has a good creamy/tang balance. Normally fried pickles are soggy traveling. They still had a good crispy coating. We also got a bar pizza for the kids. That was really good as well. The cheese was cooked golden brown yet not burnt. The bone in wings were also good.
All of the food and service (really nice and knowledgeable bartender) was a far cry from out last experience. I’ve opened restaurants so I know it takes time to get things right, but dry overcooked ribs and a manager/owner who insisted we explain exactly what we didn’t like was a huge nail in the coffin. The whole experience was awful and we swore we’d never be back. Glad we changed our minds. We’ll be back for sure.

I truly enjoyed my experience there! The staff members I encountered were excellent hosts. The food was delicious! I tried the chili, cornbread, coleslaw, and onion rings because of excellent reviews they received. They were wonderful. All the dishes seemed to be prepared that day. However, I would have preferred the cornbread served hot and offered butter or something else to put on it. Mine was cold. The onion rings were the best I ever tasted. I had to exercise control and push the plate aside to concentrate on the more nutritious foods. The coleslaw was good, too, as a gentleman reviewer stated. I was impressed with it because it’s challenging for me to find a coleslaw that I like and doesn’t contain any raisins or some type of sweetener. The chili was good, too. I had mine without the pineapple because adding it would have been a new experience for me and I wanted to first get a taste for the chili itself and not bury its flavor. Next time, I will order it with pineapple. I was also surprised that there was still a lot of food remaining when I couldn’t take another bite.
The design was an excellent decision. It created an environment welcoming to diverse party sizes – from the individual diner to a party of ten. I arrived after 8 in the evening so it was dark, but there appeared to be a balcony dining area to enjoy your meal alfresco.
I definitely plan to return. My only recommendation at this time is that they increase their selection of tea.

Chili was delicious! Cornbread was sweet, and spicy fries were spicy. Very friendly waitress. Good drinks. The only downer was that my Moscow mule was served in a glass and not the typical copper cup. I would definitely go back

Jones River Tavern was a very lively and fun night. The staff made our time there even better. The BBQ was delicious and the pulled pork sliders were mouth watering. I definitely recommend for a night out with family or friends.

Excellent bartender. She was very bubbly and fun. Our dinner waitress was a tentative but not overbearing. Food prepared well, but some items repaired in the Mia we’re not listed on the menu.
We were a table of seven, did not have to wait more than 2 minutes. Drinks taken quickly and meals delivered promptly. Three macaroni and cheese dinners all very good (except green peppers in 1 of them: the.person who gets indigestion from peppers). We will be back.

Best ribs ever. These ribs fell off the bone. Several selections of sauces to try. They were all good. Corn bread was fresh. Cole slaw had a great taste and the onion rings were excellent!

The place is always busy due to no alternative around, but in fact it’s generally average. BBQ quality varies, burgers are good but not exceptional, nachos are great. For me, the biggest issue is that the “smoked” wings are definitely not smoked, just fried. I’m wondering about the other “smoked” stuff..

LOVE this bar. Quickly becoming a favorite for my friends and I. The owner is there just about every night, and there’s always something going on. I got to see Whiskey Princess and she was amazing. Love the live music they showcase.

The service was excellent and the appetizers delicious. The rub is delicious and so are the 4 different bbq sauces. The mac and cheese is made to order and fresh. Home made onion rings and fresh chili too. If the brisket wasn’t a little dry then I would have given them 5 stars. We will be back again with our family to try the rest. Can’t wait for the hushpuppies that they are supposed to be adding to the menu. Nice job on the smoker, real BBQ on the South Shore.

Ok but not great. Long wait. Atmosphere and decor were good. It was clean. Went on Valentine’s night so we expected a crowd but it was half full. Table next to us got up and left before there food came and complained about service. Can’t blame wait staff for food being slow but it did seem they were unprepared for a holiday night. Food was ok but not good enough to give them another shot. Hope they make it turn it around because I love BBQ but the ribs were so so. Seemed overdone and had a musty aftertaste. Wondering if the rub was old or in an area exposed to mold. Pizza was ok. Burger was ok. Onion rings and corn bread were delicious.
