First time trying Jokim Kitchen, a Vietnamese spot, for weekend lunch. Four $15.99 weekday lunch specials (11am to 4pm).

– Mango smoothie ($4.00) – good mango flavour
– Avocado smoothie ($4.00) – creamy
– Pho sa te ($17.50 large) – satay broth was better but light on the peanut flavour
– Pho hai san ($17.50 large) – didn’t detect hot/sour in the broth. Serviceable but unmemorable
– Saigon style platter ($42.95) – four types of meat with grilled asparagus and salad. Betel beef and the grilled galangal pork were delicious. Sausage and lamb skewers were okay

We stopped by for lunch at Jokim Kitchen – a great restaurant indeed with great taste of food. Their Chicken Wings with any flavors are amazing and fries were fantastic. We ordered their chef platter, it was excellent and worth trying.

The food was very flavourful. Would come here again. They have a vegetarian section of the menu with good offerings.

Visited Jokim in New West in September 2025. This is the former Tamarind Hill location that we used to frequent years ago. They’ve got a nice wall in the front to take instapics.

We got the Platter II ($39.95) since we wanted to try a little bit of everything (grilled pork skewer, lemongrass chicken, home made stuff sausage, shrimp skewer, asparagus, and salad and then added a skewer of Betel Beef ($7.95) – although they forgot our order for the betel beef and we had to ask them for it to be made. The platter comes withGarlic Butter Bread Slices as well as 2 drinks 50% off. The food had nice flavour and spice… plenty of food.

⭐⭐Vegetarian section has quite a few selections. The vege pho was pretty good, large portion and shareable.

⭐Salted Egg Tofu, Bun Bo Hue, Bahn Khot were tasty, and not usually on menus of other Viet places. Overall, flavours were bold, only lacking in herbs and sprouts you’d normally see at other places. Standout was the salted egg tofu: savory, soft, umami! Sadly that means it is not vegetarian.

The banana tapioca dessert was ok but not made the traditional way with the small cooked bananas and pandan. It was just a tapioca coconut base with regukar cavendish bananas cut on top, so lacked depth and texture of traditional Chè Chuối.

⭐Service and environment was pleasant, clean but really dim.

Moved to New Westminster from Toronto last week and wondered around and decided to try this restaraunt. I tried the Saytay beef noodle soup and shrimp salad roll, the noodle soup was really creamy and delicious! Great atmosphere, I will def come again!

Jokim Kitchen is where authentic Vietnamese flavors meet a near fine-dining experience—without the fuss. The food? Spot-on. The ambiance? Cozy and inviting. And the service? Fast, friendly, and effortlessly smooth.

Ordered sizzling beef steak and grilled pork&shrimp, spring roll vermicelli this time. We ordered Saigon style platter the first time. Both times, the experience was top notch.

But let’s talk about the real star here: the fish sauce holder. It looks so sleek, it could be a luxury brand—let’s call it Laine for now. Small details like this make Jokim feel extra special. If you’re on the hunt for some of the best Vietnamese cuisine in the Lower Mainland, this spot is a must-visit.

Friday night, the place isn’t too busy, food came pretty fast. We loved everything we ordered, especially the papaya beef jerkey salad, definitely recommended. Bbq platter ll was good, sausage on the platter wasn’t our favorite, all the other meats were fantastic. They are kids friendly which was a bonus as we came with 2 kids.

Food is ok but we noticed the difference between regular and large sizes of house special is HUGE while the price gap is within 2 dollars! I don’t understand why regular is much smaller than large size! The server who helped us was polite and nice but not very sensitive to customers’ needs. Food serving took a while to come. The atmosphere is quite good. Quiet and easy.

Our experience at Jokim was okay overall. About 3/4 of the tables were full during our visit on a Friday evening, but only one waitress working. The bun bo hue was good, the pho dac biet was okay, spring rolls were good but very thin, and the mango prawn salad was too sour (used too much filler marinated radish). Unfortunately won’t be back as our experience, though not bad, wasn’t great either.
