Johnson’s Real Ice Cream

In 1950 our Grandpa Johnson opened our first location in Bexley, Ohio and he has since been an inspiration to three generations of ice-cream makers. He started Johnson’s Real Ice Cream with a commitment to quality, community, and the simple joy of a cold ice cream cone (or pint, or sundae—there’s no wrong way to eat ice cream). Each flavor we make is a testament to the things he loved and a reflection of his personal quirks. He was a good man with a contagious laugh who worked hard and always had fun. Thanks for keeping his legacy alive by enjoying his famous flavors!

Johnson’s is a staple! I love their cappuccino yogurt (trust me when I say it does not taste like yogurt!) but their menu is expansive. There are lots of flavor options, including some that are dairy free. My boyfriend likes their sorbet because he’s lactose intolerant. I always pick up a pint of my favorite so I can have a little treat at home later as well. They also sell ice cream cakes and cookies. I’ve had their lunch once and it was pretty good. It’s nothing fancy but good for a quick bite! There is seating inside and a patio out front you can sit to eat. There’s even a little walk up window you can order at instead of going inside. It can little busy on summer evenings but there is a reason for that! Overall I highly recommend Johnson’s for your ice cream fix.

They have pretty good ice cream and a lot of options. I got the Tropical Smoothie($5.45) and it was pretty good. However, there’s a staff member that is always rude. Everyone else is nice and accommodating but he always rejects every request you have.

They have very good ice cream, with many flavors and serving options. They also have small lunch options like a small bowl of Chicken noodle soup, or a grilled cheese sandwich. Their outside seating are was well kept, with 5 tables perfect for a group to gather. It was a great experience in every aspect.

This is truly 1 of columbus’s gems. The home made ice cream here is consistently some of the best I’ve ever had anywhere and services. Great these energetic young kids great selection and my favorite is the chocolate milkshake made with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. Dry it you’ll never go back to a regular chocolate chip. Stop by before sunset and enjoy your favorite treat on their patio.

My husband has been coming here since he was a child ( I can’t say how many years but a lot of them ). It’s our favorite place for our favorite treat – hot fudge sundae. We were in the New Albany area and tried the NA Johnson’s. Big disappointment. We thought it was just the NA location so a few days later weee t back to the Bexley location. Same disappointment. We love Johnson’s hot fudge – thick and just the right amount of sweetness. However we needed a magnifying glass to find that glorious hot fudge. Prices went up but they added 2 toppings which we were not told about. So even though we only got one topping so should have received a double amount we got 1/2 of 1 topping.

Long-time fixture in Bexley (and now, beyond)! Not only is the ice cream worth a visit, but this is a nice spot for lunch, too! Try an egg salad sandwich coupled with a banana milkshake. I would describe Johnson’s as comfortable, simple – and delicious! Consistently great service is the cherry on top.

Had the sugar-free moose tracks. It tasted like frozen skimmed milk rather than ice cream. I am disappointed that more ice cream places do not offer sugar-free options.
