Excellent local BBQ place with friendly and helpful servers. I dined in from out of town and they were eager to help me understand the menu and pick options to try different types of meats. Clean, organized, nice soda options (HFC free!) and fun sides (try the sweet corn casserole.)

Would recommend to any BBQ fan in the area.

I am telling you when I am a barbecue fan Johnson’s BBQ shack just touched my soul!!! That brisket sandwich though I’m not understanding why it’s so slow in there. They need to change location because this food right here deserves every dollar they’re asking plus gratuity. Very delicious very great service and well clean atmosphere! Plus I offered to buy a roll of paper towels from them and they let me take them on the house. I’m definitely coming back! Thank you Johnson’s BBQ Shack for your service

I was greeted by a friendly fella as soon as I walked in. Had a nice quick chat and ordered.

I got the brisket combo without the bun and sweet corn casserole (better than your grama’s just don’t tell her ). I used the sweet sauce on the brisket and mmm it was good.

Combo comes with a drink. They are local made pops without the high fructose syrup. They have little cups for tasting. Mexicola(like vanilla coke), lemon-lime, cherry vanilla(like Dr.Pep), and Root beer. I chose root beer .

All in all, I left having a good meal at a good price.

I will definitely be back.

In all normalcy we love Johnsons BBQ – never had a bad meal nor experience- My husband is a sucker for their brisket and their beans – and me well I can eat Mac and cheese and corn casserole all day. So when we decided to have them do the food for our 10 year wedding anniversary/vow renewal we were extremely excited for our friends and family to give them a try. I was thoroughly disappointed with the food we received. The brisket ( which we paid extra for) was so tough and tasted like a bottle of lighter fluid had been poured over the top of it. The BBQ baked beans …. basically a huge pan of pork and beans ( no one ate them and I still have most of them left over) there was no seasoning , no BBQ sauce to make them BBQ Baked beans- basically like a bunch of can of pork and beans was just dumped into a pan. for 24lbs of meat ordered we received a 1/4 lb container of mild sauce – and a 1/2 lb container of sweet. There wasn’t anything wrong with the other food that I know of, but we were extremely disappointed in the quality of the food especially with the amount of money that was paid.
Very disappointed customers

Made an online order of $100 on THEIR website. Site said order would be delivered by 6:30 pm. Order never arrived. We called multiple times and no one answered. Finally got ahold of someone and he says they don’t do online orders. Well, you just charged us $100 and our family has been expecting dinner for an hour. Employee tells us the owner will call us. He never does so I call them back and he basically calls me a liar. I do not recommend this place. I will never order from there again

Johnson’s BBQ Shack offers a casual dining experience with a focus on classic barbecue fare. While the meats are generally well-cooked, the flavors can sometimes be a bit one-dimensional, lacking the depth and complexity found in other barbecue joints. The sides, however, are consistently good, offering a nice balance to the main dishes.

Johnson’s BBQ Shack lived up to our expectations. It has been quite some time since we last visited the Bargersville location, and I swear the food tastes even better now. My son loved his Pulled Chicken Sandwich with the sweet BBQ sauce so much so he almost forgot he had ordered Mac & Cheese as his side dish. He is picky eater and for him to say that he enjoyed the Mac & Cheese and it is now his go-to side dish days a lot. I ordered the Brisket Platter, and loved every bite. Smoky, juicy and tender and tasted delicious by itself or in any of the BBQ sauces. The Cole slaw was creamy and crunchy with the right amount of seasoning. I enjoyed the Baked Beans which was sweet and smoky, but I found it to be a tad dry. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The food: The ½ pound of meat I got was PHENOMENAL. The sauce was PHENOMENAL. The corn pudding was PHENOMENAL.

The service: the lady who served me was incredibly friendly and my food came out in about 2 minutes.

The atmosphere: I like joints like this. Cinder block walls, sauce purchasing display, big family style tables available. Sports playing but not blasting audio.

I will be making the 40 minute trip here again no doubt

Just went there today and I really wanted to like this place, the atmosphere is great in a nice little downtown of small town Indiana. The people were nice. Being that I’m doing keto diet I decided to double down on a brisket meal for 4 to have leftovers for lunches ($60). My wife had a pulled pork potato. I used to think even bad bbq is good bbq. This brisket had the texture of a sirloin steak that was cooked to well done. The bark was as tough as tree bark. The smoke flavor tasted like it was doused in matchlight. The potato that my wife had, we ordered pulled pork but we couldn’t tell if it was pork or chicken. The seasoning used on it was fairly overpowering and had a texture like chewing on sand. I do not like talking bad about places but I honestly can’t think of a time I’ve had worse food than this. I did not try the sides but based on what my wife said they were the best part because they just tasted like store bought GFS sides. For $85 all we could do I laugh at how bad it was the whole way home. I hope this place gets better but I can not let it have a 4.7 star review and keep taking peoples money.

Hire a pit master or send the current one to school so that they can turn this place around. Based on a lot of reviews I can see that I’m not the only one who has had this experience. I cook a lot of bbq and would volunteer my time to make this bbq better. This place has potential with the location and atmosphere, its main component, food, is severely lacking.

Wow! A friend recommended and took us to Johnson’s… Delicious BBQ! Super quick counter service bbq. A bit of a drive but totally worth it. Looks like they have a nice patio area for the spring and summer time highly recommended!
