Shewwwww weee! ….. I know I should have taken a before photo but I was too excited to eat! This barbecue and especially the sauce is better than any place I have been around here. I haven’t been to Johnson’s since 2007 and the flavor and consistency of the food is the same as I remember 19 years ago. I told the gentleman I was gonna leave a review that I am sure it was good as I remembered and I was exactly right. Don’t miss out! Johnson’s BBQ tried and true for another generation! Bring cash or Cash App!!!!!

After 50,000 views I return to this establishment to share love, but received nothing but a stinky attitude from no one other, but Mr. Johnson himself!! He definitely needs to exclude himself from the service there it’s a shame to be liability in your own business. I stepped in to pay a visit and show the progress on Google Maps, but was treated shabbily. You cannot even sit down and eat here, not a very welcoming place from the start . Do yourself a favor and find better barbecue where you will be appreciated as a customer, do not eat here. He is a negative owner producing negative product. From one of his biggest but certainly one of his last supporters. Never eat in a place that you aren’t welcome to dine in. They’re not trustworthy.

Had 1/2 rack ribs and the pulled pork sandwich special with bacon and cheese fries. Ribs were tender with an excellent BBQ sauce. You can definitely taste the hickory in the meat. Service was great, place was clean and good was great. Defenitly will stop in again. Great prices for the portions you get. I couldn’t eat all of my ribs and had to take some home .

First time eating here today and I’m already planning to come back. I asked the friendly guy at the counter what he recommended, and he suggested a lunch special BBQ sandwich, one side, and a drink for $12. Great deal! The service was quick, and everyone was super nice. The food smelled so good I couldn’t even wait until I got home, I ate most of the sandwich in the car. It was delicious!
If you’re thinking about trying this place, do it! Just a heads up, they don’t take card payments, so bring cash. Not a big deal, but good to know.

I go there maybe ever three to five months to eat a great BBQ but today I ordered 2 Ribs dinner…. Man the mount was so small I though they had made a mistake and gave me lunch amount.. lol… Ribs was over cooked and dry so I asked for extra BBQ to not to offend them but it’s will be a long time or maybe never going back… see photo for yourself, Rob black over cooked, it was hard to it…. It’s just seating there.. lol

Awesome BBQ! These are the small places you find that have the best bbq. The customer service is 10 stars worthy. While visiting from out of town I found Johnson’s bbq. I had the pulled pork sandwich and brisket sandwich. Make sure to get them with coleslaw. The baked beans are very tasty. Their take home menu is printed on some great material. They only take cash, no cards.

Came all the way from Florida for some real bar b que. Not really,, but Hadn’t been in VA for awhile so did a Google search for best bar b que in Chesapeake. Johnson’s came up. Super nice customer service. Covid protocol great. Smoker in the lot which I smelled at the light b4 I turned in. Yum yum. Bought a full rack and potatoe salad and collards on the side. I miss VA bar b que…this made me . 2 thumbs . I will be riding back with a slab. Yup.

Ok…..just ban me from this place…..♥️♥️♥️♥️the juicy, plump, mouthwatering ribssssss. OMG! The sauce , A-MazE-INGGG. The Cole slaw…. Ooooo, creamy and crunchy super good. They have the Mac and cheese back…. .you won’t be disappointed. They are using Covid guidelines, so it’s just carry out. Just as long as it is open. I’ll wear a paper bag…..just gimme the ribs… . Price is very fair…..Nice and friendly staff.
