The name John’s Table is a heartfelt homage to Alex’s grandfather and his restaurant, John’s Place. From generations of service industry. Those who understand the importance of quality time, who want to share the magic of an experience. Many family members, spanned across several generations, have worked in hospitality. Whether they made it a profession or not, the importance of gathering remained. We thank them for creating this culture. It gave us the framework and motivation into creating the place you love to frequent. We started our journey with individual pursuits of degrees in various fields, but it was our shared experiences of a combined 30+ years in the restaurant industry through what started as a way to earn money t…

My favorite restaurant!!!! The best grilled cheese and tomato soup I have ever had. John’s burger was also one of my favorite burgers I have ever experienced. The steak fries are so delicious as well. The atmosphere is incredible and the food is even better. The staff is inviting and friendly. Highly recommend this place!

We stopped into John’s Table for dinner on a whim since it’s right between the movie theater and our house, and we were blown away. Yes, it’s tucked in an industrial area, but don’t let that fool you—once you step inside, it feels welcoming, grounded, and totally unpretentious.

The staff is exceptionally friendly in a way that feels genuine, not forced. The whole place has this comforting, “we’re glad you’re here” energy. The food? Absolutely amazing. Perfectly sized portions, incredibly fresh ingredients, and everything tasted like it was made to order with real care.

So glad we wandered in—John’s Table just earned a spot on our new favorite list. Highly recommend!

Thank you to John’s Table for being a beautiful memorial spot to celebrate the life of my brother. You all were so kind considering what the event was, the food was amazing and everyone felt well taken care of. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to host us. Highly recommend for the food, the service and for an event space.

Laid back atmosphere, kind staff, good food, fully covered and sun-shaded outdoor seating. Yes, they have community tables, but yes, they have tables for 2, 4, 6, etc. Veggie options for me. Comfort food for my guest. I like the location – it’s kinda buried in a commercial park, but it was at about half capacity at 3 PM on a Friday, so I bet it gets busy.

We’ve been here a few times and the food was great. This evening I decided to try the French Onion soup and a Caesar salad with salmon. The soup was a huge disappointment on a couple levels. First, it arrived barely luke warm. Second, even though the menu states “melted mozzarella and Gruyere cheese”, the only cheese wa approximately 1 tsp. melted on top of the single large crouton, which they are calling a crustini. After asking about the lack of cheese, I was told this is their chef’s version. They also can’t melt cheese in that shape bowl. (What?) Though my salad was fresh, I had to ask for the salmon that was ordered, as it didn’t arrive. The salmon was very fresh and was delicious. However, by the time the soup was reheated and salmon cooked, my husband had already eaten half his dinner and the rest got cold while he waited for mine to be served. For the most part, I was quite disappointed in the food tonight and the way the soup is advertised in the menu is, in my opinion, deceptive.

My husband and I went here for dinner on a Sunday evening. It was a great place to go and celebrate. He had the Cherry Zing mocktail (it was amazing!) and I had an off-dry Stem Cider (also yummy).
For dinner I had one of the three main-course vegetarian options, the Olympian. A delicious falafel patty burger. No regrets for sure. Hubs had the Highfalutin’ Steak and finished it before I got to the second half of my burger. He loved it.
We split the seasonal dessert cobbler (blueberry) and enjoyed that thoroughly as well.
We enjoyed the atmosphere. We sat at the bar because there was a bus-full of people in the dining area. It was quiet enough to enjoy each other’s company.
I noticed a private-event area at the front of the restaurant, so if you’re looking for someone to host an event, definitely consider John’s Table.

The food was great, I took a date here and I think it ended well? I’m actually writing this as we’re on the way back to her place. It was her idea cause “your place looks if a cu frat boy decorated and his parents weren’t rich”

We actually came here after climbing and may have been a little stinky, so Susan and Tom if y’all are reading this I could tell that you were a little disturbed by the smell and I’m sorry.

They had a hot chocolate bar which was a welcomed surprise only problem was Trina (fake name) asked the server for a ramkin of soy sauce to add in to it. I’m not one to judge people but that was highly unnerving. She seems happy, the phyco

It was also cool that they had paintings to buy there, and the funny thing is Kim Roller is actually her old roommates sister in law. And I’m not sure how but she convinced me to buy one of them because Kim is just a struggling artist working a side job at the great Scott’s diner and she could really use the morale boost by one of her big paintings getting sold. Anyways there goes 500 bucks.

By the time dinner got there I had already heard the same 3 stories about her bird like 12 times each. I think she has memory issues from the time she tried to ride a yoga ball down a slip-n-slide. Or she just really likes her bird.

Anyway, great atmosphere, great food, would recommend for a date night or have climbing drinks.

But wish me luck boys for a world rocking 3 minute performance tonight.

Update from a week later: I PR’ed and made it a whole minute and 37 seconds

I don’t leave reviews on restaurants often, but I have to say I was searching for a lunch spot while my daughter was playing a volleyball tournament and a long break between games.

John’s table staff was amazing and I have to say by far one of the best prime rib phillys I have ever had. This is truly a hidden gem in Louisville.

Service, scene, and food absolutely top notch!

Well done to that team!

My one and only issue, The mac and cheese was supposed to have elbow noodles and it had ziti.
Now that that’s over, I’d first like to thank Talia for her wonderful attentive service, but also her expert communication. When the kitchen had an issue and had to remake one of our dishes she didn’t waste and beat and told us what was happening. Communication is something that I feel is often overlooked in the service industry, but Talia is an exemplar of what it should mean to work in the industry.
The atmosphere was good, but the food was spectacular. The little disappointed my poké bowl did not have salmon, however once I bitten to the cauliflower I was met with a very satisfying crunch and quite delicious flavor.
My girlfriend absolutely loved her mac and cheese, I had a few bites and it was spectacular.
Overall Johns table has freat service, great ambience, and great food!
I cannot wait for my next opportunity to dine with y’all!
