Truly a GREAT dining experience and a must do before they temporarily close and remodel rebrand. Even the sweetest sunsets must rest for a new dawn.Linda y Diego are superb and courteous.

The steak sandwich is really good. I ordered Medium Rare and it was cooked perfectly! Usually hard to do with a thin skirt steak. French onion soup good and huge! We were there with a party of 50 ppl and the service was very prompt. Calamari and shrimp appetizers were also very good. Nice old school tavern feel.

Excellent atmosphere love the bar. Was there for a Greek Style whole chicken to take home and was able to have a beer while I waited. Very welcoming place. The owner took the time to chat. The Service was excellent. Plan on going there on a Friday night when they have live music, and trying the other dishes available.

I had no idea the treat I was in for. Not at all what I expected. Stumbled upon this spot while staying at the Marriott across the street. The staff, bartender were all very welcoming and the service was great. There was a live performance going on in which the singer engaged with the patrons to add to the performance. Everyone was having a blast.

We can tell why this place is a staple for the neighborhood and many regulars after visiting this evening. Great food, great staff, friendly vibes all the way around. They have great specials too❤️

A fun and vibrant atmosphere on a Saturday night. We also appreciate they have live music, and the singer, Diva Montel was absolutely fantastic! Johnny’s kitchen was very crowded on a Saturday but they had plenty of staff who really worked hard to make our dinner exceptional. Our food was served hot and fresh. They have a full menu with lots of choices from salads, to steaks, surf and turf, burgers, chicken and pasta. The owner was there working her butt off and was so friendly. This place has been a northwestern suburbs staple for over 30 years! We definitely will be back.

When my brother and I were children my grandparents brought us to Johnny’s on occasion. While looking for a Sunday dinner option, Johnny’s came up and I was surprised to see that after all these years, it was still open.
The restaurant (set-up and decor) wasn’t exactly what I remembered, but I can see why my grandparents liked it. It was dimly lit, very quiet, and fit with retro wooden panelling, Also of note, during our visit we were the only table that was (to put it delicately) under a certain age. I didn’t notice any early bird specials, but regular house specials were listed on a separate menu card.
Our table shared a pair of appetizers. The stuffed mushrooms and saganaki. Both of which were mid. 8 mushrooms to an order, stuffed with ground pork. The Saganaki was easily the largest and thickest I’ve ever seen. It wasn’t lit on fire tableside so the notes of brandy that it would normally have, were not present. We did agree that that taste of the cheese was more enjoyable the more we ate.
For dinner I ordered Chicken Alfredo because I vaguely recall ordering it and enjoying it here when I was younger. It looked magnificent and it somewhat resembled what I remember it being. Not a super bold alfredo flavor, but it did the job and the portion was large enough for me to save half for lunch the next day.
Cream of chicken soup came with my order and it was bland. Very unenjoyable. I almost never salt or pepper anything at any table, but this soup needed it in the worst way and it didn’t help. I’d probably refer to this soup as cream of cream with chicken.
Chicken and Ribs combo was ordered by my brother and he seemed to speak very highly of the plate. He enjoyed the flavor of the ribs.
Miguel was our server for the evening and he did a fantastic job, he introduced himself, checked on us, got refills quickly, gave us updates on our order and even got my son a little ice cream sundae. 5 star service. This man would be an asset to any restaurant.
Before writing this I saw a previous review noted that this restaurant had a “vibrant” atmosphere, I seriously question that assessment, but did notice that there was a sign for live music. So maybe that’s what the reference was for.
In closing, our visit to Johnnys was okay. We had agreed on 3 stars before we even left the table. Service being the bright spot for sure. I’m not ruling out a return visit, but the time and place would have to be right.

I ordered a bone in ribeye cooked medium, but it was served well done and unfortunately quite dry. Given the price over $65 for one entrée I felt it was reasonable to ask for it to be prepared correctly. I mentioned the issue to the staff and was brought a replacement steak. However, the second steak appeared to be a response in poor taste, it was extremely undercooked, closer to rare, and clearly not a good faith attempt to correct the original mistake. The first steak had no visible pink, and the second was barely seared on the outside with a raw interior. At that point, I didn’t feel comfortable raising another concern, as the intent behind the second steak felt retaliatory rather than accommodating. The server was adequate, and the atmosphere was pleasant, but unfortunately, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. For the price and quality, I would have had a better and more consistent meal elsewhere perhaps even at a more casual steakhouse like Texas Roadhouse. I won’t be returning.
