Lunchtime opportunity to try another BBQ place. I absolutely LOVE a good BBQ joint, and upon walking in, I could tell it was a decent try. The smell of the wood, the smoky aroma, just melted me. I chose the burnt ends sandwich and was not disappointed – plenty of meat, pickles and onions topped it off. I didn’t need a side – the sandwich was sufficiently filling to satisfy. My one complaint is they the “hot” BBQ sauce was not spicy enough for my tastes. I prefer something that says “hot” to BE hot. But that is not enough of a knock on Johnny’s to not go back. I definitely will.

Been going here my whole life and still love it. Meat is always good as well as the fries. Service is always friendly and quick. Atmosphere is nice and it’s always clean. When it comes to proportions of food, this place hooks you up. Definitely recommend stopping in. This us ine of the best BBQ joints in the area.

Seems like a nice place. Atmosphere is good and the employees are friendly. Placed a carryout order for pulled pork and fries. Not my favorite but I was told it was alright. I’ll have to try something for myself next time. I did get to try the BBQ sauce, and I must say it was unique in a good way. Would definitely visit again!

This location of Johnny’s plans to close January 2020, as its owner is retiring. I read the ribs are fall-off-the-bone in other reviews, which means they’re actually cooked a little too far. In our order, they were a little on the tough side. But the bark and flavor well made up for this. The brisket was fair, it could use more smoke. The burnt ends were pretty good although they came sauced which I feel like usually hides meat that’s not true burnt ends. The beans are a little too oniony for my taste but they were overall pretty good. Not overly sweet like many in KC and also not too soupy. Fries were super crispy. The restaurant is clean, offers accessible entry and restrooms, has a large, dedicated parking lot, and outdoor seating. I definitely recommend you hit it up before it’s retired. (Note: My cousin Joe Mike lives for their hot dogs here, so if that’s your jam, try one!)

Living in Kansas City naturally I am a fan of barbecue. I really like Johnny’s. The sandwiches are great including the sliced chicken which is on the menu every day. The staff here is always helpful.

First time here and it will be the last walked in not busy at all 4 young people standing behind the counter. Stood there for about 4 minutes and somebody said as soon as that tables clean their you guys can sit there was probably 10 + tables open another lady walked by us about another 3 minutes later and said you guys can sit anywhere you would like. Just not very organized to many people standing around not wanting to help customers would have left but had heard good things about the food. The food was not great the burnt ends where dry and more Shredded me then cubed meat

I would love to give it a “10” !!! It is a mouth watering experience! As soon as you walk in, the aromas go directly to your stomach, ” I have got to have that” . You stand in a quick moving line, to order your food. While walking to the table, you see others eating, then you know the food really looks good. After a few minutes, ( I had time to go wash my hands and take a few sips of my drink) they bring the food to you. You immediately can tell, just by looking, “that meat on the ribs is going to fall right off the bone”. Then you taste it, your mouth and your stomach say, ” Yes, Yes, this is it ! This IS the BEST!!! “
