First off, Where was my foil??!! We have eaten here since the place opened! What has happened to the food quality? Food was soggy and mushy from the Cole slaw! Fish was dark and the grease tasted old. Mac n cheese was bland with a side of cole slaw juice in it! Shrimp wasn’t clean, tasted grits, then looked, poop sac still inside. We bought 6 plates, a fish sandwich, and 12 hush puppies on the side, it totaled $98! I expected better! ‍♀️

Good ole southern food , fried , seasoned , and cooked with love. This is happy food , healthy is not here. However you will leave feeling like you just ate at grandmas , be prepare to take a nap after a meal from Johnnys . The bbq is very good , nothing like NC bbq done the right way . The hush puppies are always hot and delicious. The sweet tea is dark and sweet like southern iced tea was intended to be . This place is the real deal!

Gluten-free friendly, if you ask what foods to eat. Delicious barbecue, chicken and pork. Amazing broccoli salad and coleslaw.

The food is good but service is way better. It is like all other family own places, loyal locals that come sit and visit especially the old people. It is not a bad thing for them or others at all. Just come prepared.

I ordered take-out from this location. The ordering process was poorly managed and caused unnecessary delays, which was frustrating.
That said, the food itself was very good. I had the trout family dinner with sweet potato and cornbread rings. Everything was well seasoned, tasty, and generously portioned. The food was good enough that I’d order again, especially if the service improves

The BBQ served at Johnny’s has that distinctive vinegar-based flavor (enhanced with a little sugar and red pepper). Service is cafeteria style, so it’s fast – and you get to see what you are ordering. Seating is comfortable and spacious, and the staff super friendly and helpful.

On our first visit we tried the Barbecue and Stew Combo ($10.99) and Fried Shrimp Friday Special (Small $12.49 / Large $13.99). Both included two sides and choice of Hushpuppies, Corn Sticks or Bun. The Hushpuppies were perfectly seasoned – crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. The Corn Sticks were a little dry – but tasty. Portions were generous, and the BBQ was excellent; but the Brunswick Stew was not good. It was watery and had a disagreeable flavor. The Potato Salad was simple, but satisfying. The Cole Slaw was some of the best we have eaten. It was just tangy enough to make it a perfect companion for the BBQ. Because the Shrimp were small, there were about equal amounts of Shrimp and Breading. The Breading itself was well seasoned and not too heavy; so, on balance, an enjoyable dish that we would order again.

We also sampled two Wednesday Specials (both included two sides and choice of Hushpuppies, Corn Sticks or Bun). The Baby Back Ribs (one rack $11.99 / two racks $14.99) were mostly tender and juicy, except for the end ribs (which were dry and chewy). The BBQ flavor was just right. We will definitely be ordering Baby Backs again. The Chicken Pastry (small plate $9.99 / large plate $10.49) left a lot to be desired. The old-fashioned dumplings were great, but I had to search for the few bits of chicken. I do not recommend this dish.

Johnny’s offers a nice assortment of traditional southern deserts (all priced at $3.99). We tried the Banana Pudding. This made-from-scratch concoction was sweet, smooth, creamy, bananary and verging on decadent – a definite winner. Sweet Tea, is available for $1.99 (small glass), $2.49 (large glass) and $5.99 (gallon). Our large glass came with unlimited refills.

If you want to try the Baby Back Ribs, you will have to visit Johnny’s on Wednesdays after 3:00 PM. Smoked Brisket (which we have not tasted) is available only on Thursdays after 3:00 PM ($12.99 for a small plate / $15.99 for a large plate / $5.99 for a sandwich).

First time here. I went in only for coconut pie and it was dry. Hate I brought two. My son is going to be disappointed.

Nasty little girl , no respect, only asked if okra was available. She rolled her eyes to her besties.. looking for support, looked like none given.
Been going there for a long time….. still no okra….
Keep on with these disrespectful folks and the customers will go elsewhere, like us!
Food was mediocre! 21225…. Moving elsewhere

Food and atmosphere is always on point! I did, however, see a big attitude switch from the young girl at the drive through order booth to the sweet lady at the pick-up window.
The wait time is excellent! We ordered the family pack #3 (a decent amount of food) and they had it out under 5 minutes!
It’s nice to have that home cooked food that you can’t make every night sometimes.

The employees were very kind and polite. The barbecue, and fried chicken were very good. The only issue I had was the Brunswick stew. It was worst I’ve ever eaten. It tasted liked it had been scorched, with not much taste at all. Other than that it all was delicious. I would go back but I would not eat of that Brunswick stew.
