The food here is absolutely amazing—easily some of the best I’ve ever had! Every bite was bursting with flavor. We ordered the Crab Rangoon Dip, Beef Tips with Garlic Noodles, General Chicken, and each dish was incredible. The beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender, the noodles perfectly savory, and the chicken crispy with just the right amount of sauce. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was fast and friendly. If you’re looking for a spot with outstanding flavors and great vibes, this is it. Arthur Hill and the team at Johnny’s Tavern in South Hadley hold a special place in my family’s heart, especially after Sunday mass at St. Patrick’s. For years, it has felt more like a family gathering than just a restaurant. Following the recent passing of my grandfather, Arthur and his team truly went above and beyond. They provided meals for my family, who gathered to support my grandmother after losing her husband of 73 years.
Throughout my grandfather’s illness, and especially on the day he passed, Arthur was incredibly accommodating and compassionate. The kindness and care shown by everyone at Johnny’s Tavern during this difficult time have been nothing short of angelic. Our first experience here, we will be back. The service was great, our waitress was so helpful in answering questions about what we were thinking we wanted to eat. The food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. The food was delicious, we all got something different but shared our food because everything was so GOOD! We came here about a week ago for a belated birthday dinner. We have been before and always enjoy the food and service.
This particular evening, our server really stood out. Gabriel was outstanding. Had he not been working, we would have invited him to join us. He was professional but not robotic, great sense of humor, and clearly a dedicated hard worker. We would have enjoyed our time regardless, but we enjoyed ourselves that much more because of our server.

So nice! Good food and vibes, nice layout and energy. Entrance is hard to find but that’s the only complaint. Would return just for the yummy drinks they serve, wow. But the tuna was surprisingly delicious.

Standard pub atmosphere with (in my opinion) next level food. I’m convinced the front of house staff has no idea how good the food is, because they’re so modest.
Take, for example, the specials menus. There’s gold on every one of them. The current French Dip is hands down the best I’ve had in the valley. Medium to medium-rare, cut from a roast, garlic-y, served on dense bread and with an au jus that isn’t overly salty. Amazing. And the execution of the Paper Plane cocktail was excellent.
Their pineapple and bacon fried rice starter is a welcome change to standard app offerings as well! In fact, the menu is peppered with new takes on Asian American standards (crab rangoon flatbread pizza) that all taste great. About the only thing I can think of is having duck sauce on hand as a comdiment for those menu items.
The main room is packed? Ask the staff about the lower key taproom Johnnie’s has!

My Reuben sandwich was delicious. The service was lacking. Once we got to our table, it took the waitress 10 mins to even address us. It then took another 15 mins for her to take our order. Our food took another 20 minutes for our food to arrive.

Ordered takeout. The Apple Walnut Bacon Salad with grilled chicken and also swapped to the lemon vinaigrette. Loved it so much, i been ordering it few times since. So good and i recommend it. Superb salad.

A friend and I stopped in for an early dinner, the wait staff were friendly and helpful and the menu had a lot of options to satisfy everyone in a group. They offer specials for dinner and they also serve pizza. The kids menu looked pretty good. Dinner was excellent for both of us and look forward to going again. The place had nice atmosphere and the tables and chairs were clean.

Hands Down, one of the friendliest places I’ve ever been. My parents have been coming here for years and the staff brings them flowers and cards on Mother’s Day and their birthdays. On top of that, the food is reliably excellent and their cocktail selection is really good as well. I can’t recommend them enough.
