Food is excellent. Great drinks. Chill vibe with good music. But come on… $30-$50 entrees and you give wrapped plastic ware? Tacky Tacky. And I get A.T. on a 20% tip for large tables, but for everyone including a single diner? I normally tip 20% or a little more for a good service sometimes a little less for bad service but I guess your clientele doesn’t tip so you have to do that?

In my opinion, this establishment should not be listed on OpenTable. The experience was completely inconsistent with how it is advertised.
I made a Valentine’s Day reservation for two and paid a $20 non-refundable fee, assuming that guaranteed proper seating. Instead, we were placed outside under a covered tent. Upon arrival, we were required to pay $25 for parking and an additional $40 just to be seated outside. At no point was it made clear that the reservation fee did not guarantee indoor seating. We later learned other patrons without reservations were seated in the same area, making the reservation feel meaningless.
Before we were even offered water, a drink, or an appetizer, we were already out $85.
After requesting indoor seating, we were moved upstairs, where I stood for approximately 10 minutes just to speak with someone about being seated. Once seated, no one cleaned the table and no staff approached us. I eventually went to the bar and waited 20 minutes just to receive two drinks. No one came to take our order. I then waited another 10 minutes trying to place a food order and was ignored again.
After all of this, we left without ever being served. We spent the evening dressed up for what was supposed to be a special Valentine’s celebration, only to waste nearly $100 and receive no service at all. While we waited, we watched multiple other couples give up and leave as well.
This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The entire operation felt disorganized, misleading, and unprofessional. I will not be returning, and I would strongly caution others against booking here.

When i tell you this spot had the best food and drinks i mean it. They made that food with love from the depths of they soul. They had every drink made. Add some kool aid I’ll be in heaven lol.

A charming and family-oriented spot with a lively atmosphere.

Although I had sweet potato fries and champagne as my meal (no luck for the V-Crew), the service, socializing, and people-watching were enough.

Johnny T’s is a blend of a sports bar & live entertainment (held upstairs in the Ultra Renaissance Room) offering Southerner food with a modern twist.

Upstairs from Johnny T’s is the sultry ultra renaissance room, one of downtown Jackson’s premiere entertainment and rental venues. Johnny T’s and Renaissance Room offer something different to local and foreign patrons and ensure you enjoy a memorable food and entertainment experience every time.

I recommend Johnny T’s to anyone living in or traveling to Jackson, MS.

Omgoodness! The food was 10/10. I got the catfish and grits. My husband got the Cajun pasta. We got fried broccoli as an appetizer! All were top tier! So good that we are still talking about it. Worth every penny spent.

My sorority sisters and I visited, and we absolutely, had the best time! The food and drinks were amazing! We each ordered something different and shared. I had the catfish basket and a drink called “The Rick James”, Delish!! Highly recommend!!

Fantastic place off the beaten path! Very friendly people and great service. The food was first rate. Our server Batrika was nice and helpful. The fried chicken was very good and the chopped steak had a good sear and great flavor. Food is served in a Styrofoam box with plastic utensils. This makes eating some items tricky, but it keeps overhead down. If not for that, this would be a 5 star establishment.

My wife and I COULDN’T EVEN TRY the food bc the customer service was so bad, we HAD to walk out. Before we even got to the door, the security guard yells at me “imma need you to take the baseball cap back to the car young man.” No hats allowed? Since when is it unsafe to wear a hat in a bar/restaurant? Mind you, they don’t have wands or anything to actually ensure that nothing dangerous gets into the building. But hey, I’m sure lives were saved bc my hat stayed in the car.

When we finally get in the restaurant, we read the sign that says “seat yourself.” We do. And a waitress walks past our table and drops two menus on it. No hello, I’m your server or anything. It’s our first visit. We have no idea how things work. Moments later, a waiter comes by our table (i guess he was also the bartender) and asks if we’re ready to order, we say yes. No mention of what we should order first (like lets start with your drinks, something servers typically say). My wife asks him a question about one of the menu items, and he responds with only short one word answers, visibly annoyed. So I ask can we order our drinks first to give ourselves more time. He says “you can do whatever you want,” rudely. We ordered drinks and left them on the table. We live in Mississippi. We can get good soul food from a gas station. We ain’t putting up with terrible service just to get some fried chicken. If yall THAT swamped, hire servers. Geez.
