Stopped by Johnny Black’s in Lake Orion and had mixed feelings about the experience. I ordered the Lake House Burger and a chicken sandwich , and unfortunately both were very dry, which was disappointing given how good they sounded on the menu.

The highlight of the meal was definitely the sweet potato tater tots those were actually pretty solid and the only thing that really stood out in a positive way.

Overall, the place has potential, but the food consistency needs some work. I’d consider giving it another shot, but I’d probably stick to sides unless there’s some improvement.

My niece and I had the pleasure of dining at Johnny Black’s in Lake Orion for the first time this past Sunday after church, and I must say, it exceeded every expectation. From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional.

The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and immaculately clean. The space itself is thoughtfully designed and especially pleasant, creating a welcoming environment that enhances the overall dining experience.

The food was phenomenal, easily one of the most satisfying breakfasts I’ve had in quite some time. My omelette was flawlessly prepared, accompanied by delightfully crisp hash browns. My niece’s pancakes were the epitome of fluffy perfection. A particularly thoughtful detail was the warm maple syrup, served table side, simple, yet so impactful.

Our server, Debbie, was outstanding. Her professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine warmth elevated our visit even further.

Whoever is managing this establishment is doing a truly remarkable job. It’s clear that attention to detail, quality, and hospitality are top priorities here. We will most certainly be returning!

Stopped in for lunch on a holiday. Was seated as soon as we walked in.
Started off with the frickles, which I order at almost every restaurant. These were some of the best fried pickles ive had. Perfectly crispy and the perfect size. A decent serving size for the cost as well.
Ordered the Irish sliders and got the garlic parmesan fries too. It was so good. Very filling and super tasty. The slightly toasted bun added to it.
Will definitely be going back.

The food was great! The portion are very large, so you definitely gonna get a lot of leftovers. The Patty Melt was really good, it includes sautéed onions which is always a great thing to add to a meal in my eyes. The quesadilla was really rich and flavorful. Definitely reccomend it. The Lavender Spritz (mocktail) was decent. Its essentially a lemonade which taste like lavender. And the ravioli was absolutely amazing with the sauce. Overall, great food. However, I do think that the TVs could be removed. I dont see much point to them in the restaurant.

Our party of 8 went on a busy evening, and the manager took the initiative to open the second floor dining area, where we were the only people until it started filling up later. The first floor is nice, but it can get a little noisy. The waitress was great, and I mentioned her to the manager. The food was delicious and priced about the same as a similar restaurant. Most had left overs, so the portions were more than enough. Thumbs up.

The food at JB’s is par for the course, and the prices are reasonable. The staff, super friendly and hard working, are always quick to take our orders and keep our coffee topped off. Unique dishes, such as their Tex Mex Benedict, are delicious, and something you won’t find at other places in the area. While they miss the mark on a cottage cheese to substitute potatoes, everything is spot on. Great job!

I was part of a very large group at this restaurant after a local Memorial service last evening.
It was very busy and yet the staff was friendly, efficient and accommodating.
The sandwiches served all had meat but the cooks made the offer to make me a vegetarian sandwich. It was delicious!
That’s service and food ill go back for!
