Excellent food. I had the burger and it was cooked to perfection. The bartender, Kenna, was very knowledgeable about the menu and made a delicious Old Fashioned. A real gem in this neighborhood.

Dropped by Johnnie’s Tavern on Trabue Rd, and let me tell you—this spot is a whole vibe. Classic no-frills bar with checkered tablecloths, a laid-back crowd, and friendly staff that make you feel like a regular even if it’s your first time.

I went for the Johnnie’s Burger and it hit the spot—juicy, flavorful, and made fresh. The fried mushrooms and jalapeño poppers were crispy and perfect for sharing. Drink-wise, they’ve got great options: from local beers to buckets of domestics, and their happy hour (3–7pm) keeps your tab nice and light.

They even have a few desserts written up on a chalkboard, and the pineapple upside-down cake was the sleeper hit of the day.

This is the kind of place where you grab a cold drink, a solid bite, and play a few games on the machine while the game’s on in the background. It’s been around since 1948 and you can feel that old-school charm still alive.

Definitely recommend checking it out if you’re in the Columbus area.

I had a burger, onion rings and pop. Girlfriend had burger, fries and water. Bill was $35.
Burger was big and good. Fries were small- near shoe string fries. Onion rings were decent size. Did not get offered a refill on my pop or a to-go cup. Server was polite but was by herself and was getting busy tending the bar AND tables.
Atmosphere is nice ; small place, comfortable but going to get pretty packed and busy with hundreds of apartments being built right next door.
Place has been there forever but now I can say I’ve “been there, done that” and will probably not go back. Would rather hit up Applebee’s for happy hour prices and meal.
Overall experience was good but $35 for burgers, fries, and rings… eh, not that special.

Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. The server/bartender seemed to be tackling all of the tables on her own and she still did a wonderful job. We never waited for anything despite her being busy.
Got the cheese curds and fried mushroom appetizers to start. They were average. Nothing exceptional, but good. Burger and tots for the main were pretty decent.
Ambience was awesome.
Overall, a great place to grab some solid bar food and some cold drinks. I would definitely stop by again.

This place is a bar/restaurant, great place if your on a budget. Food is always good. The service is amazing, very fast, very nice, sweet, kind people working there. Atmosphere is great, while you wait for food you can play games, talk to your family. I give them a 10/10. Go check them out. My sandwich was only $8. Very filling.

Stopped at this place on my tour of eating all the hamburgers in Hamburger America. Neat place. Opposing on the outside but cozy bar on the inside. Bartender is friendly. Ordered burger with american cheese, bacon, onion and pickles. Burger came out in 5 to 10 min. It was scorching hot off the grill. Tasted good. Thicker patty. This place reminds me of a hipper Buds in colorado.

I’m sad to say I’ve lived pretty much next door to Johnnie’s for over a decade and never stopped in. Today I stopped with a coworker on a whim and we will most definitely be back. The burger is traditional but delicious, and stands proud on fundamentals. Well made, seasoned patty with the usual toppings available. Next time I’m definitely adding bacon!

There were several people in our group, most of us had a burger. The sandwiches were very juicy and filling. The fries were crispy and done to perfection. Juan, from the kitchen, stopped by the table to ensure everything was good. Will come back again!

Regular here! I love their burgers and usually I am not even a red meat eater but for them, I make an exception because it is just that good. There are honestly few burgers in Columbus that compare. Also a big fan of the fried mushrooms! The service is immediate because it is such a small establishment – shout out to Dom, he is the best! This place can get busy but usually during the week you have a good shot at getting a table without issue. Pricing is fair, parking is ample, beer is cold and service is great!
